  1. Ah, as I said, just the standard mature beef steak and a couple of beers, you know.
  2. Carrots, celery, cucumber and lettuce are for rodents. Yes, mature beef steak and a couple of beers are clearly visible in my energy saving Bosch fridges. So, are we going to talk about food now?
  3. This is really remarkable. If I remember correctly, these fridges were about R8 000 each. Can't find the invoice now. But, if one takes the huge energy saving fact into account, it makes sense to buy them. I bought them in 2014 and I have never thrown any food away since then. So think about it... (And no, I am not a Bosch rep.)
  4. Bosch KSV33NI30 Fridge Energy efficiency class: A++ Energy efficiency class: A++ (110 kWh per year). Total net capacity: 346 litres Noise level dB(A) re 1 pW: 39 I have attached a pic of them. Do you want to know what is inside them too?
  5. The energy consumption of my Bosch A++ fridge freezer is 0.562 kwh/24 h.
  6. Exactly. A++ is the way to go.
  7. The A++ Bosch refrigerators and fridge-freezers are the most energy efficient fridges and they cool especially efficiently. Fruits, vegetables and other food stay fresh thanks to humidity control. I don't throw anything away anymore. They have retractable glass shelves for convenient loading and perfect view. They also have LED lights that illuminate the refrigerators evenly. These were my best buy ever.
  8. My gas hob, old solar geyser, A++ fridges and energy saving bulbs help a lot. Weirdly enough, my smart meter payments are so far the same before and after my solar journey. (Can't understand this though, still figuring it out).
  9. The Prez says: No more load shedding for South Africa. My reason for going solar has just disappeared, folks.
  10. Yeah, but all of it made sense. Life is not only about solar energy.
  11. Hi TTT, thank you for being sorry about my misfortunes. Moses, ek is ook goed die dinges in. 1) I did not do business with him only because he is a dominee. I did business with him because I believed what he said to me. The fact that he is actually an active dominee as well, gave me an additional sense of at least probable ethical behaviour on his part. 2) Brilliant. 3) Absolutely yes. Thank you for the invite to spec my needs here. WHEN I am ready I shall certainly come here first, make no mistake. At least you guys talk sense.
  12. You are a strong camel but that was the last straw.
  13. Absolutely. I would have done the same with the BMW. Jeez, two hedgehog resistors in four months! Glad you sold the damn thing. No more question mark scenes, thank you.
  14. Indeed. Because I don't want to give you a psychology lecture and because this is not a psychology forum, I'll only comment on one psychological term namely heuristics. Heuristics are rules which people use to make decisions. They are also called mental shortcuts that usually involve focusing on one aspect of a complex problem and ignoring all the others. This is part of human nature and yes, at times quite frustrating to witness.
  15. Unfortunately this is true. Not one of my friends or family members would even consider solar energy after witnessing the mess at my house for 10 months.
  16. I agree completely. DIY people usually conduct their own studies and read ample literature on a topic before they attempt doing it themselves for themselves. Ironically the installer in my case knew less than a DIY person because he didn't have to live with the system himself.
  17. Thank you Mark.
  18. Hi KLEVA, I fully agree with you. You are absolutely right. May I add a few more tips from a client's point of view please? 1. If one pays an installer to do the job, make sure the installer knows exactly what he is doing and don't believe all kinds of stories. 2. Don't feed your installer lunches and coffees while they work at your house. Once you set this standard, they expect it every time they visit your house. 3. Make sure your installer as an electrician that does not smoke dagga on your property especially just before he climbs into your roof. He then becomes too high. 4. Make sure your installer does not have an electrician that also wants to privately sell you plants while he has your attention. 5. The installer must be able to supply you the specifications and design criteria. 6. The installer must provide all his calculations. 7. The installer must know what the kWp requirement of your house is. 8. The installer must design the panels integration, the battery integration and the distribution board integration. 9. When an additional installation is done, the installer must yet again have a design. He must follow the proper parallel installation guidelines as prescribed by the manufacturer of the inverters. 10. The suppliers cannot honour any warranty claim and or responsibility for an incorrect installation. 11. The design must be correctly integrated in the distribution box. A solar qualified electrician must do this. Make sure the installer has a fully qualified electrician. 12. Insurance does not cover the house in case of possible fire, or if the system is placing the people and the house at risk because of an incorrect installation. 13. The installer should invite suppliers to visit the site especially if he is not at all sure of what he is doing at your house.
  19. I'll remember your dissection offer and as long as you are not a dominee, ok?
  20. Maybe after I have completely recovered from this ordeal, yes.
  21. Quality is not about the amount of items on a shopping list in order to fix the broken parts. Quality is the standard of something as measured against other things of a similar kind or the degree of excellence of something. I'll only join if I can get one of these: https://www.goodthingsguy.com/business/first-tesla-battery-installed-south-african-home/
  22. Chris, I can see no reason for several independent experts from renowned solar companies to supply me with exaggerated reports. I can also not see why the supplier of the components (Rubicon) would exaggerate or "milk" faults. I have more than 10 emails in total that were written regarding the dysfunctional, unsafe system that was installed at my home. These people are complete strangers that had no reason to be dishonest or dramatic about the faults. I had a contract with the installer to install an off grid system. I received a malfunctional, unsafe and substandard sort of back up system. No, the experts did not fix my system because they were not requested to fix it. I was also not willing to pay one more cent towards that specific system. My lawyer asked the installer to pay my money back and to have the system removed. The installer did not argue about any point in the reports, my system was removed last week and then my money was paid back in full. End of story.
