Hi Guys I need some advise on the smart load function of the Deye inverter. I have excess solar pv capacity and would like to direct that to my electic geyser in order to save on gas. The main geyser for the house is gas. I enable the smartload feature however it shows that on 1w is going there. On the image the UPS is the house load and the house in the bottom right corner is the load of the electric geyser when turned it on. Can someone please help me make sense of this image. Why would the geyser load be indicated seperately from the house (UPS) load but also not in the smartload icon. I want to use my electric geyser as my solar array is completely oversized for my day to day needs. I wanted it this way for cloudy days. Ideally I do not want extra smart switch but rather just rely on the inverter to take care of all the switching.

Thanks guys. The issue was resolved. According to the installer the system detected moisture and the batteries shutdown to protect itself. Apparently he had a lot of similar call outs after the storms in Cape Town last week. I installed more vents in my solar room today. Going to get a smart thermometer and humidity sensor that intend to connect to and extractor fan to control the climate a bit better. New to all of this so the learning curve is steep. I tried to control temperatures in the solar room but forget about the humidity.

The battery has been on 64% all day. It was on 65% just prior to the solar taking over the house load. The installer updated the firmware as well earlier on but no change. The moment turn on the pool pump the solar generation increases to match the load but no excess solar are going to the batteries. Also, I enabled grid charge and turned off time of use. Mornings I seem to have an issue. It is a beautifal sunny day in Cape Town but I am only generate 338w. If I turn on a pump then the pv generation spikes. With the storms we had recently I changed the quick settings in the Deye Cloud app to force charge mode so that the batteries could charge from the grid. I have since changed it to self consumption mode as I cannot seem to disable them from the app. I also disable grid charge and enable time of use again. Any idea what can cause the low pv generation? The batteries are usually full by 11 to 12. I am going to supply the electric geyser with the additional solar capacity however I just need to make a few changes to my plumbing that would make it easier to switch between the two geysers. Currently I have to get into the roof to close a ball valve for the electric geyser. I need to create an easier access point for this. I am busy building a second bathroom and the plumbing is up next so I will do it in the next few weeks when I have some time. Can I correct the electric geyser to a sonoff smart switch or is there a specific switch that needs to be used given the power demands of the geyser? The room has no direct sunlight and stays relatively cool most of the time. I am doing double insulation with a layer of sisalation and isotherm. It worked a charm in my brain room. I just need to sort out the ventilation. Started with the window opening today. I will have to tint that window as that wall is hit by direct sunlight for the most of the day. The eave of the house is over that particular section but I am going to insulate it and fit rhinoboard as soon as I am done with some other things in that room. It was my laundry room, poolpump house and toolshed. The washing machines and poolpump was removed. I will be installing a window in one of the walls as well just to control temperatures inside there. This picture was taken after 5pm. The is my guava tree that needs to be pruned but by the time when those shadows come on to the roof the sun is very low already. Hi Folks I finally had my system installed on Firday and Saturday past. The 12 panels are split into 2 strings. 7 on the east string and 5 on the north string. The sun hours are roughly split between the two. The north string has limited roof space though I could probably add another in landscape above the exisitng. I havent used the grid at all since Saturday which was the main aim of doing this. Only the electric geyser is left on the grid, the rest all run off the batteries. I have a gas geyser as the main geyser that supplies both house on my property. My mom lives in the other dwelling as she is renting out her properties otherwise she wouldve live alone since my dad passed a few years ago. Her stove and oven is gas. Only my cooking is gas with an electrical oven, airfryer, microwaves, multiple tv's, irrigation pumps and a pool pump. We ran the oven and kettle off the batteries last night and the batteries was at 60% SoC before it starting charging from solar this morning. Thus far it is doing exactly what I want but I do think I am missing some performance. I will gladly take some advise on the settings below.- Inverter purchase advise

Thank you Hennie That is already happening 🤣🤣. Yesterday was the first full day of solar, generated A LOT of surplus energy. I ran the irrigation whole day, probably going to dry up the wellpoint at this rate 😂. The equipment is installed in my laundry room which also housed the pool pump. I have to remover everything water. Can wait to get the pool pump reconnected but a lot of manual labor involved there now. Perhaps I can ask a quick question now. I have 3 Greenrich WM5000 batteries and 1 8kw Deye with 12 620w Canadian Solar Bifacial Solar panels. The installer set the battery capacity to 435Ah should it not be 290Ah? Also the Max A Charge and Discharge is set to 40Ah and 120Ah respectively. Is that not too low.- Inverter purchase advise
Update: I eventually bought the 2025 8kw Deye, 3 Greenrich WM5000 batteries and 12 620w Canadian Solar Bifacial panels. System has been installed and I needs some advice on the parameters on the inverter but I will make a separate post. I am happy with the Deye, it does what I need it to do and at a good price. I have the same questions about the Solis hence I am leaning towards the Deye or Sunsynk. Backfeeding to nonessential loads are critical for me. Its where the majority of my electricity cost are generated (pool pumps, irrigation, alternative water supply, etc.).- Inverter purchase advise

I have been looking at the Solis for a long time. I was not aware that they are better than Deye/ Sunsynk. Not clued up with these things. The batteries that I looked at are Hubble, Greenrich, Hina Ess and Volta stage 2 all 1c rated versions.- Inverter purchase advise

I will be adding 12 620w panels to the inverter I don't need that many it's mainly for winter generation. Getting more than 2 batteries at this stage is also a waste because my geyser and cooking happens via gas. Pool, irrigation pumps usually run in mid morning in any event. Good afternoon folks I am buying my solar equipment this week. I was quoted R60 for a 8kw deye and 2 5.5kw voltage stage 2 batteries. Voltex has a bundle deal for a 8kw Sunsynk and 2 5.5lw Hubble AM2s for R48k. The Sunsynk is the old version not based of the 2025 Deye. Would you advise that I rather get the updated 2025 version of the inverter or is there no material difference.- LuxPower SNA5000WPV + Cyclone F5 install
