New to Solar - guidance/advise needed

Featured Replies

Hi all,

New to the whole renewable energy gig. Have been doing a whole bunch of reading and price checking on the various components I plan on purchasing. My idea is to get my house completely off-grid, with a decent battery storage capability, and an Eskom feed in if ever needed.

My proposed system is the following

- 1 x 8kw Sunsynk Inverter

- 15 x 535W Jinko Panels

- Freedom Won 10/8 Battery

I have used Open-solar to get a view as to what the system will produce (11 000kwh a year). I most certainly will not use all that much but I am planning on having my inverter type airconditioners installed, so will be running these off the solar energy, as well as my geyser (no solar geyser). I am a single individual so my current consumption is quite low (20kwh a day at most) but that should change in the next few months.

feedback would be appreciated

Components are being purchased from inverter-warehouse but I do note they dont do installation. Any suggestions?

Welcome,

The plan looks good.

When you say completely offgrid then you have to look at how efficient your appliances are, specifically your stove and geyser.

It might be possible to run a 3kw or even a 4kw geyser element with your system but if you add a traditional stove on top of it then it might not be possible to go completely offgrid.

But since you are a bachelor  maybe you don't cook.

Again welcome.
