Idientifying input voltage on an axpert

Featured Replies

Hi! Someone gave me a axpert mainboard that he wired the AC Output to the input of his axpert.

I'm not hopeful I can save it, though, we got the IGBTs and now I need to test it. He didn't mention if it was the 3K48V or the 3K24V

Is there a way to tell? I'm thinking it may be the 48V because the input stage capacitors are 60V

PS. He only brought me the mainboard.

That's how I would guess it.

I would start off at about 36 V on a current limited bench power supply though, starting with about a 1 A limit. That won't run the inverter; for that you'll need about 56 V and a 3 A current limit (assuming that it is a 48 V model). Do you have the control board that plugs into the main board? Or perhaps the processor is on the main board. You'll need the DSP to drive the gates to test the inverter (DC-AC converter) repair.

I've tested it at 24V And the power supply limited all the way to 6A. So I'm pretty sure this inverter is toast. (I started low and increased it to see if it wasn't just the inverter trying to boot.)

I may dig around some more in it. But I'm pretty sure the problems are going to be many...

If it limited at near zero volts, then likely the MOSFETs are shorted. Sadly, not a very uncommon occurrence.

Yeah. That's my guess. And no knowing what else got damaged.
