StickeyTape Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 I've had a SunSynk 5kW running for a good few months now and have successfully had it integrated with Solar Assistant. A month or so ago, the Solar Assistant stopped being able to connect to the Inverter over the BMS485 Port. The RS485 converters connecting to Solar Assistant as well as all cabling has been replaced during the troubleshooting many times but the problem persists Solar Assistant was reinstalled and this also did not fix the problem. I then went and logged a call with SunSynk and after sending the unit to them for testing they sent it back saying there is nothing wrong with the Inverter. I did explain to them that the BMS485 port is not working. Their feedback was that there is no way for them to test this port. (Huh?) After some debate they agreed to replace the interface board. The unit was returned today an reinstalled, after being with them for almost 3 weeks+. The unit was recommissioned this morning, but even after this boards replacement the problem persists. I have done testing with a RS485 Serial Sniffer connected to laptop and cannot see any TX from the inverter. So I am certain that the interface board replacement is not where the problem lies, but maybe on the board (main board?)that feeds that board. Has anyone had a similar experience with communicating on the BMS485 port? It is quite expensive to keep sending the inverter back and from (shipping) to get it tested by SunSynk, have had the unit shipped twice now. Is there anything else one can do to check/confirm/prove to SunSynk that the BMS485 port is not operational. I find it very strange that this is a function on the unit, yet they say they have no way to test it. Other than that the unit appears to be 100% functional. Might it be firmware related? The unit is on the latest firmware which they upgraded to during the initial testing before the Inverter was sent to SunSynk. I did ask them at the time to downgrade to the version my Inverter had on when it was originally installed, but they upgraded it to a newer version (sigh). Getting to the point where I want to throw this thing in the ocean. Quote
