MAIN DB/ Inverter DB labeling

Featured Replies

Evening all

I have been trying to figure out what the correct method/standard is according to SANS10142 when it comes to labeling of an main and alternative supply DB.

1. I have a Main DB. A new CB is installed in this DB that will feed the a sub/inverter  DB installed close to the inverter. A CB in the sub DB will feed the input of the inverter.

A second CB will then be connected to the output of the inverter feeding back to the main DB.there is also surge protection and bypass in the sub db.

What would be the correct warning labels ito isolating, mains switches, dual supy etc to install in these two DB's

The reason behind the question:

If you install the main switch label in the main DB and isolate in case of emergency there will still be power present in the main db due to inverter operating as UPS. Therefore you need to isolate in the sub/inverter db as well, but you need to isolate the breaker feeding to the main db

So do you label this breaker in the inverter db also as main although it feeds from the inverter back to the main db

Any guidance will be appreciated
