July 26, 20224 yr Hello I am wanting to get to grips with the requirements as well as the process to register a domestic PV solar system, Grid tied with the Sunsynk 5kw or 8kw in Johannesburg. I have read in various places that a system must be registered with your Munic so they can inform NERSA of this. I don't know if that is true and then if so when I Google City of Joburg Munic I can't find a thing on PV Registration and if their costs involved and what time frame etc. I have read that the inverter if grid tied can not be 25% of the main CB. In this case the 5KW is greater that a typical domestic house of 60 or 80 amps.. Hoping to get some guidance please
July 26, 20224 yr As far as i am aware there is no requirement to register your system in Jozi / PTA. The only muni that's pushing and somewhat strict on that is CoCT. Also i am not aware of a regulation limiting the size of Inverter you can have - so if you need an 8Kw then get that, if you need a 12kw 3 phase then get that

Thank you. Just want to make sure I do things right and best to my ability. Ok I got a bit more feedback, the 25% they spoke of was for the maximum amount to feed back into the grid. I don't know much more about that but will try find out more. There may be limits soon with old Cyril's announcement but if I find out more I will update.
