Sunsynk 5KW with 12x 550W Longi panels and 2x Sunsynk 5Kwh batteries
Probably stated to be on the left to keep the AC and DC cables separate, however the trunking is separated for the AC and DC so all ok. But generally keeping DC left is better as the DC side of a sunsynk is on the left and the AC on the right.

Mounting Solutions
Another point is that P2000 is not meant for panels, sure people use them and there are clamps adapted for it. However my thought process is that it is not designed for it thus if a panel had to blow off the roof the insurer will ask for the specs of P2000 or even just state it's not designed for PV panels. I have lost many a quote due to using proper mounting systems designed for panels to the P2000 quotes. Also for if it's worth anything at all the mounting systems for PV panels has warranty on it. Although I don't see it ever being called upon as well as probably some clause that makes them not liable. I am sure someone here smarter than me can help out and perhaps it's fine then that is awesome but I don't use P2000. KD solar or Renusol is what I use and mostly Renusol at that.

What qualifications do you need to be a qualified Installer
Hello : ) So with the above to be an installer is a wide gap of understanding. By that I mean anyone can mount a thing to the wall and screw brackets to trusses etc. but at the end of the day for a CoC of a new install it has to have the General Control of a wireman. So a wireman can't sign off a new install if he/she didn't have general control. Alas loop holes are there too where if someone not under any general control signs off as it was an existing system and does all the checks etc. There are many caviets to installing and installers and contractors. Also a fine like between DIY and contractor. Anyone wanting to DIY can do so and I have asked many platforms of what is in DIY range and what is not and there is no solid line to a degree. But if you looking at retirement and doing new installs I say it is a non starter. However.. if you get one and need sign off, ask the wireman and let him/her have general control i.e sizing, routes, etc then sure good. Again my opinion and thoughts at this moment. My dad was a big DIY guy and I learnt a heck of a lot from him but still does not make it "by the law". With that, anyone know a good place in Bryanston sorta areas even out a bit that can teach welding ? Got a few projects I want to do but my welding is like chicken sh*t

Any recommendations for 24V inverter for 200A/H Lithium 24v Battery
24volt system I have had good luck with the Growatt 24V inverter. I use the pylontech 24V battery with then so I have comms. But yes so far touch all the wood no issues. Growatt in my eyes is not bad for the smaller system. To add it is a 3kw 24V Growatt inverter.

Drakensberg Guests Farm installation!!!
Same question, been doing it as high as possible always for airflow and heard or read 150mm gap is needed. However for some mounting systems such as galv roofing and the brackets they maybe 50mm high. I assume the railing companies know the law better in their designs but again the PV industry hoarse bolted before much industry teaching could happen.

Loan units of batteries and invertors.
Yes ya I agree. And look I am sure they would have gone with it to get a battery in to keep lights on etc. I have also considered doing loan units etc, almost plug and play, but first I need my numbers to match on the lotto. So I do believe there is a need for the loan service, especially when warranty times start expiring...

Earth leakage tripping when running on grid but not on solar
Can't quite see to great but it seems there is 10neutrals and there are 11 lines off the earth leakage. Appears there is a neutral missing on the earth leakage. Perfect working would be 11 lines and 11 neutrals. Just my 0.2c from what I can make out. : )

Loan units of batteries and invertors.
On my side as an installer I could have used a rental battery about 3 times already. As for the costs it's tough on who fits that bill the client or installer. Installer you choose the battery with the system so not the clients fault it failed nor installer fault. Client trusted the installer for advice etc and the installer trusted the material used. So with that at the height of my battery issues R500 a week is something I could handle to just get the job sorted. Probably even R800 to 1k. It's a tough one as I am not big to keep loan units and when equipment fails it's really hard. It's tough as the price someone can pay is difficult. To me the manufacturer/supplier of the equipment must do loan units yet they don't and it's a huge killer.

My COJ SSEG registration journey
If possible can you message me there details, I am based in JHB, Bryanston area. Most of my clients are and at the end of the day when the goal posts move or out of the blue become visible I may not have the resources to deal nor the contacts to do it in a timely manor. I see it becoming like getting your driver's renewed, you either know someone or you sit in a que

My COJ SSEG registration journey
Yeah agreed on all. My other thought I had now is they didn't blink an eye when we all went to LED lights, they even came around to put them in, at least low watts compared to halogen. So now the whole house uses less due to panels and the moaning and it's a big thing. My opinion is they must restructure to make more power at night vs day. Look don't know if it's possible and k am nieve on that. Something like excess power into battery banks or pumped storage etc. But yes I probably should tell all the old clients that the debt collector has come and we must do the right thing. At the end of the day I was tasked to size and install. As for the backup solutions with no power, I am not sure how they can control that, smarter inverters we can set the reconnect time but again some homes can only afford a system that makes the stage 6 and then having your charge time in half means not a full battery for the next long outage.

Also on that not everyone, if anyone, wants to feed back at all ! Their approach and all this paper work and having to physically walk in to a department is as far as I can tell to feed back to the grid. Most of not all will always be a net user. As long as it does not feed back in power failure it should be a good to go ! Look I do know, well I know a little bit and not confirmed, that the transformers and their tappings struggle when there is no demand, hence why grid voltage in the day is higher as there is less volt drop. But that is for someone way smarter than me and in the know the chime in on. Anyway I feel if you say you not feeding back then leave it alone, a d heck if you are by mistake then be happy that you helping the neighbour and Eskom can use that for pumped storage. Again everyone this is my thoughts and not facts and my opinion.:)

Inverter Neutral Earth bonding
Second to that who is paying for the upgrades ?? The horse left the barn way before there as a line in the sand. Albeit with the Sans regs and how I read it I did relays, however had to CoC properties sold that had a perm bridge and other forums AiA have stated to use a perm wire. It's like a religion this industry, one side or the other haha.

I do believe it is only if you have panels on the roof, if it's a backup system then no need, however news articles are stating it's causing grief when they all start charging when power returns so that a different kettle of fish at the moment

Ah to add, I have told sole of the clients as a field test about it and they all said let's wait until they come to us.... So stuck in the middle as well as who needs to insist on this SSEG, is it the installer or property owner. A lot of people are gatvol, so interesting times lay ahead and not the cool fun interesting things

My COJ SSEG registration journey
Good follow this. I am an installer, albeit whish I never dabbled in this solar thing haha, but I emailed CoJ mid last year and got a reply Jan sometime with all the documents and some info on the process. I just wish I knew all this before I got in. I asked a lot and no one knew and now it's knocking and not keen on fighting on who is fitting what invoice. I am glad something is happening and some order which can be followed and requirements there of. Dealing with the Gov is something I am not keen on. If the rules are not dumb and it's understood to benefit then it's a good thing. A lot of my clients say they are tired of just paying and to conform it's more money after spending a bunch to have somewhat power continually. If the CoJ guys/girls who come help and aid in safe installations then it's a good thing. Seen some real gems. Also to get a KNOWN safe standard is also good, and safe including the greater national grid. Anyway let's see how it goes. Thanks for sharing !

Thoughts on solar installation quote provided - responses appreciated!
Also quick own, getting your own material vs. the company is also tricky. Same as saying well I can get a burger patty and buns cheaper at Woolies than if I get at a restaurant. At a restaurant it's made for you, if you get it, you make it and the experience of it getting made for you is nice. Some solar guys may appreciate that you get the stock but then it has to just work and be thought out. Also the line item pricing may be out of tune as that is where they building there profit and costs to company in.

Thoughts on solar installation quote provided - responses appreciated!
So yes that is that companies quote, get others and try compare from there. One companies overhead is different to others. Also make sure they are electrical contractors or sub the electrical work to an electrical sub contractor properly registered. Second is will this company answer your call when you have a question. If they too cheap then probably not and you on your own. Also to cheap means cheap products and shortcuts. Sure there is a market rate to a tune but each company has their own requirements. So I agree ask these questions to find out and figure out what is what but I do recommend more quotes with apples vs apples. For example my call out fee is more than the "general" and it's for reasons. To start my car is a lot compared to the average "general" sparky.

Line drawing? What that?
If I may ask what certificate from the installer ? The line drawing I am too asking questions of because I can make it beyond simple or rather complex, they need to stipulate what info they require on the line diagram. My next question I have in general can they go retrospective, i.e if it was installed before all this data needed why is it needed when the rule comes. I have so many questions and no one can help, I get 10 different answers.

Sunsync Inverter and Solar enquiry
Also quick one the 4 panels will be too low on the voltage side and low voltage causes havoc and blows MPPTs, they say 5 is the minimum but 6 is actually the best as minimum to make sure the voltage is enough. Keith speaks at least spoke a lot about the voltage issues with the MPPTs being too low

Sunsynk 12kw x 2 3 phase parallel hybrid system Fault
If you did a firmware update I would ask for it to be rolled back, second to that the panels were cleaned. I would check the connections as I am not sure how they were cleaned but maybe water ingress. Also look to see if there is water build up in the bottom of the PV frames, again not sure how there where cleaned but water ingress in a panel and perhaps on a bus bar with in the panel. Also if it's a tiled roof and from cleaning someone standing on a tile and perhaps sqaushing the PV cables caused a cross sectional area of the cable to reduce. Shot in the dark but that is what came to mind.

Growatt 5000 ES
Hello Hope all well! got a funny issue but we added PV to a growatt 5000 but in loadshedding times only the PV gets dropped and disconnected and then it starts up again to pulling 2000plus watts and charges battery and supplies load then it drops again. It does it all the time. anyone had this issue before or know of a solution perhaps ? many thanks !

Slightly overwhelmed
May I suggest using a 2nd life battery from Revov. I know when 2nd life is said it's like a swear word. But look at the spec sheet and quite a number of clients are looking at it and a few have gone with it. Just a bit more kWh for the money spent as well. Just for more confusion haha
