So as tested with a multimeter, the Sunsync 5kw ats 240v switches off after 1 minute. This means that if a N/C ac contactor is used, it will bond when eskom power is present. I have heard from installers that they use N/O. Can someone please advise?

Hi Scorp Thanks for the reply. This is a much cheaper solution. The link provided by Lee Page is for a 1 x N/C; 1 x N/O. However, you advised that it should be 2 N/C contacts. Please confirm which is correct. Most suppliers seem to only have 2 N/O.

Good Day All I have purchased a Sunsync inverter and am about to have it installed but I need to ensure that i have all the components on hand for when it's being installed. While this thread is quite detailed, I have been hearing mixed information about a relay and whether it is still required for a 5kva Sunsync inverter which has an ATS240. 1. Is the Sunsync inverters sold in 2023, still require the relay if it has an ATS240? Seems Growatt's has it built in. 2. Is there a way to wire the inverter so that the relay is not required? 3. Which relay exactly is required? Please provide a link

Thank you all for the feedback and thanks Dylboy for the info on the minimum amount of panels that should be installed. i was previously advised that a minimum of 4 panels should be suffice. Wrt a PV combiner box, most are rated 600v for use in a 5kw inverter and 1000v for use in a 8/12 kw inverter. However, the MPPT charge controller max voltage on a Sunsync is 500v. Wont a 600v rated combiner box be too high to offer any protection ?

I am looking to upgrade my system to a Sunsync 5kw inverter system. I reside in Cape Town and now with the new laws kicking in from the 1 Oct 2023, I need to change my inverter to something that is is on the approved list. I currently have a FiveStar inverter 3.5kw inverter connected to 4x 100ah gel batteries. My aim is to run the house during the day from solar and grid (if the power is insufficient) and only use the batteries mainly during load shedding at night. My load during the day is around 400watts per hour and goes upto 3000 watt when using a microwave or kettle. I plan to initially install 4x 545 watt solar panels due to budget constraints. Please advise: 1. If the Sunsync 5kw inverter is able to meet this requirement by configuring settings to supply power to the household from solar and grid during the day and if i can set the switch back to solar/grid from battery while the battery voltage is relatively high so that i don't cycle the gel batteries during the day as it needs to be relatively full for a loadshedding slot. 2. If the solar panels are installed by a PVGreen card technician, does an engineer still need to sign off the solar installation if I am not planning on feeding back to the grid. However, I will still be using the grid to supply when solar is insufficient.

I'm struggling to get my AM2 to work as it keeps on clicking even after updating the firmware to version 4.5. The solid alarm light comes on after updating if the batteries are still connected to the inverter which is a Growatt 5000ES with firmware 0.67.01/0.68.1 The firmware update files were received from Hubble CPT and only the 4.5 version worked as the 2 others gave a bin error. Updating without the batteries connected also succeeds but the moment the batteries are conected to the inverter, the battery relays clicks. The inverter worked fine until this week. Protocol is set on L52 and batteries are 52.7v. When the clicking happens, the battery flashes on the growatt until the battery alarm light goes not. I'm unable to cycle the battery as the inverter keeps restarting due to the battery relay clicking. Hubble advised that new firmware would disable the relay but it doesnt seem to have worked for me. I also bought the correct RS232 cable from Hubble to do the update. I would appreciate any assistance.
