Pushing back to the grid

Featured Replies

Good day peeps,

So I am sitting here in the office, it is absolute anarchy, but my house is fully off grid at home. I suddently realised im living in a bubble.

The office has no power, the internet and the cell towers are down, its anarchy out here.

But at the same time I feel like I could be doing something.  My solar is probably gonna be fully charged by 11am.  Why dont they just let me push back into the grid?

I dont want money, I dont want credits, I just want to help. If each house could push back 3-5kw in the day, that is another cell tower that could be working, or another traffic light?

What are the implications of just logging into Victron and enabling the push back feature?

I am currently on a smart pre-paid meter with City Power based in JHB.

Am I the only one feeling this way, if we can help why not let us?

You're not the only one feeling that way - but the govt is too backward in its thinking and approach to allow us to do this. Only WC has seen some forethought but even they are hamstrung

So I am one of the fortunate guys that are still on the 1st Rain network that has been close for new subs for I think 2 years. I only stream and have never used a dish. It works faster in my area than any of the other networks. I never loose my Internet during LS.

Always surprised that people still battle without Internet if mine is working. I am covered with access to 4 networks via dual SIM phones. Only need them when away from home in some areas.
