October 8, 20223 yr Hi all, I know feeding back to the grid is a big no no. The system is only a week old, and everything has been fine however I noticed this morning when there was very little load, the screen was jumping between 0 and -40W to -50W back into the grid. I checked Solar Assistant and can see the same thing. When the geyser came on so there was a load, it stayed at zero. Also Looking at the totals screen in Solar Assistant I can see yesterday the grid use was -0.1 kWh. Previous to that 0.0 and 0.0. The CT coil is installed, my only concern about it is that it is stuffed in the DB with wires all over it. Although the only wire passing through it is the main incoming Eskom feed. Is this amount of "noise" acceptable or indicate an issue? Thanks!
October 8, 20223 yr I suggest you read your meter on a daily basis for a while and see what that's saying. Feeding back into the grid isn't an absolute no-no, but generally you want to clear things with your energy provider first. A lot of meters that are in use can see current flowing, but can't see which way it is flowing. IE they regard exported energy as use. That's why I'm suggesting you watch the meter as well. I actually lose a little in this way ever day, but it's cents, it would cost me more to address it, and if that small price is what I pay for always having the juice flowing then so be it.
October 8, 20223 yr Author Thanks @Bobster. I will keep an eye on the meter and see what it is reporting. Just find it strange because it was sticking on zero and now without changing anything, I see it occasionally goes negative. Weird. Edited October 8, 20223 yr by Chris888
