November 5, 20178 yr HI I recently installed an SMA sunny Tripower 25Kw 3 phase GT inverter with SMA energy meter and SMA sunny home manager there are 15Kw of panels attached- however the readings below were taken during my experiments with only 5Kw of panels attached. I configured the export limitation settings on the home manager and the inverter per the SMA 'official" youtube webinars for '0W' of export. I have strange readings on my 'el cheapo' amp clamp meter. The above readings for utility make no sense when the GT inverter is operating. I conclude the slight differences in readings between load and utility amps with the GT switched off relate to the lack of accuracy on the cheap clamp meter and slight timing differences as I take the readings and the laod changes in that time. My problem is this - the SMA portal graphs will show zero import/ export during the day, however the utility smart meter is showing that power is being consumed (or perhaps exported since it is the type of meter that charges customer whichever way the power flows). I can see the inverter divides the power generated equally accross the phases - I understand this relates to power regulations when one is exporting to grid, however I dont understand why this is needed when there is zero export? Has anybody got experience with SMA tripower and export limit setups? what should the behaiour be? Can anybody explain the wierd current measurments - what is that caused by? Regards Ralph
November 19, 20178 yr hi there there is an old adage which says ,ask why 5 times and you will solve any problem I not familiar with your gti but you need to limit down your problem is it connected correctly does your gti work does it have enough panels to make the correct voltages for the gti to work does the gti show its output on a screen disconnect the limiter and see what's happens I think you need you make certain your settings are correct is it the software or hardware that's a problem I have a single phase hybrid inverter and can turn on the grid tie function which can be seen by my efergy meter , maybe go back to basics and get one to be certain of what's happening , nothing like a second opinion that might be enough to point you in the right direction hope you get it right hope you come right cheers
November 23, 20178 yr Hi, I have a few comments. I have spent some time wrestling with this config. 1) Ensure that you are running the circuits through the Emeter in the right direction. Normal convention for a circuit beaker is to feed the supply in at the top terminals and connect the load to the bottom terminals. The Emeter is not unlike a CB in appearance. The big difference is that the mains must feed in at the bottom and the top terminals connect to the load. 2) If the LAN to which the Emeter is connected has wireless, consider using a mobile app “EMView” which provides you with a view of the energy consumption on the SMA Energy Meter. The app is available at www.eb-systeme.de. This will show you what the Emeter is actually reporting. Regards, John
