5kw Deye inverter and CFE5100 BMS

Featured Replies

Hi there

I have a problem with my coms between the inverter and the CFE battery. The installer selected the Use Battery % instead of the Lithium.

I have changed that to Lithium under battery settings. But when I go to BMS I don't see any readings..... Just 0

I have double checked the dip switch settings but no luck

Any help will be appreciated

Are you using a fully populated ethernet cable (all 8 pins wired)?

I had this issue between Sunsynk & Hubble AM-5 - the issue was resolved by making a custom ethernet cable, to Hubble's specifications.

In the case of the Hubble, only 3 of the 8 pins required population when using CAN protocol,  and only 2 of the 8 when using RS485 protocol.

Yea, that does not necessarily mean it'll just work. There are infinite combos of inverter + battery out there.

From my experience, the bundled cables are intended for paralleling of that specific component, be it the inverter or the battery.

Deye supplies a straight Ethernet cable with the inverter, for parallel communication when inverters are setup in parallel : not the custom cable you need ...

Looks like another cowboy "installer" who can't read manuals.

Anyway, without the proper cable (easy to do if you have an RJ45 crimp tool & spare connectors on hand ...), You need to leave the inverter manage the batteries with percentage or voltage. Percentage being very approximate untill you fully discharge & fully charge the batteries for the inverter to figure out a more precise %. Easier to use voltage to avoid inverter reporting 40% when the battery is actually closer to 80% or the other way around ...

Looking at your battery manual, you may be able to use a straight cable after configuring the dip switches for CAN-L and CAN-H on your battery ...

Sw1 : 1 & 2 up (enables CAN)

Sw4 (CAN-L) : 5 up (wire # 5 on the Deye side)

sw5 (CAN-H) : 4 up (wire #4 on the Deye side)

Should work ;)

Thank you again. I made a new cable just for incase...... But when I opened the inverter panel I noticed there were 6 Network cable sockets. My cable was inserted in the top left corner and was labeled 485. I noticed the one next to that was CAN. Moved it there and Bobs your Uncle...... Changed battery settings from "Use Bat %" to Lithium and everything is working fine

Hi Spanky, what layout did you use for the pins? I am struggling with the exact same issue. BMS is not functioning between Deye 5KW inverter and AM-5. I see the installers used a normal fully populated 8-pin RJ45 and it's not working

Hey @Swaziii

My apologies for missing this. On the off chance that you haven't resolved things yet, the required info is available on Hubble's Website.
