February 19, 20233 yr I was asked if you can convert a single phase "Eskom" supply to three phase with inverters. The guy have a woodwork shop and have 3 phase machines he currently cant use. He only have a single phase supply. Is it possible to charge batteries with the single phase and then use inverters to supply 3 phase to the machines? Aparently he already bought some equipment, I will find out what he have and what his loads will be. Thank you Regards Sakkie

Using single phase to 3 phase VSD but your motor need to be Star/Delta as the VSD three phase output will be 230v three phase. 2. Rotary converter (after capacitor start) where a 3 phase motor is used to supply the 3rd leg of the 3 phase in conjuction with phase shift capacitors. I installed a rotary converter that runs a 5hp industrial table saw in conjunction with a 2hp industrial drill press. But again the induction motors needs to be in Delta(230v). You will need a 60 amp dedicated single phase feeder. Edited February 19, 20233 yr by TaliaB
