Hi

I hope this is in the correct section of the forum. I apologies in advance if this is the incorrect section. I have read the other threads and found them very informative.

My parents currently have an old Mecer 1200va trolley inverter with a lead acid battery. unfortunately these batteries do not last very long and get progressively worse very quickly. I wanted to change the battery for a Lithium one but was told i couldnt due to the inverter not being able to charge the battery correctly.

I am now in a position where we do not want to spend a large amount of money on a 'overkill' setup to just power the TV, dstv, fibre router, ONT fibre box, and a light or 2. My idea is to repurpose the current trolley inverter to a new inverter that can run a lithium battery. My question is which inverter should i be looking at, which battery and what other components do i need in order to make this work? I would also like it to be scalable that we could add a solar panel if we wanted to. I would also like a solution that would charge the batter quick enough between loadshedding schedules.

Any advice would be appreciated, i am just trying to think out of the box to find a solution that can work.

Axpert styles like these tend to be a decent upgrade,I recently sorted one out for my mum - fair warning though their fans tend to run always and can get loud

Ok so been doing a little research and taking into consideration that this 'trolley invention' slap together will be in the room where people will be during loadshedding, I would like to try have something that isn't going to drive people crazy from the noise/sound the inverter makes.

My idea are putting the following items together.

Inverter - Victron Phoenix Inverter 12/500 (12v 500VA) I'm not 100% convinced by this inverter not the quality but more the load it can take being 400W. I am open to suggestions.

Charger - Victron Blue Smart IP65 Charger 12/15 (12v 15a)

Battery - Lithuim 100ah (12v)

Other things I will need to consider is, most likely need a fuse for the positive, need to work out where i can ground the inverter, can it be done on the trolley itself or another way. Then need to get the correct size cables for the battery connections and see how I'm going to mount the stuff to make it look like I at least know what i am doing.

On the inverter I am guessing that a Chinese one isn't the worst idea but which brand is a fairly good make to get? Also something that doesnt have overly loud fans. I have an Ellies trolley inverter atm and the thing drives me nuts. Can't wait to get my solar collection done so i can change.
