Hugo Basson
Good day, currently at home I have a Mecer 720W inverter powering alarm, cameras and wifi. But what I found is my batteries does not last very long. First I had a 115 Ah lead acid battery and got about 4 months life out of it, then I got a 105 Ah Willard battery but only lasting about 2 months. After that I got a 130 Ah Sabat gel sealed battery. Al of them not giving me more than two months of life. I never discharge them more than 50%. And when I am at home I use a generator to power my home so I can watch tv. Two of my friends have the same inverters at their home and is still on the same batterie giving them more than 8 months of batterie life. And they even have their tv’s on it and watching it even when it is on the inverter. My question is can my generator ac current be influencing my batterie life through the inverter? I have noticed that when I’m running my inverter through my generator that the inverter swithes of the charger sooner than when it would have if it was running on the grid. The life you getting out of those batteries are very short. Can you give an idea of load during LS. Also how long can you run before hitting 50% discharge level? One thing that might help is if you run 2 of the same new batteries in parallel the next time you replace them. This will mean longer charge time but when the load is shared between 2 it is kinder on the batteries. Lower current always better for life. Also use the lower charge current from inverter.
