June 6, 20233 yr Hi All Friend of mine wants to start his Solar installation. He has the following. 2 x 8KW Sunsynk inverters 5 x Hubble 5 kw batteries 20 x 555w JA solar panels How would you suggest he connects the system? I immediately thought that he might need another battery seeing the uneven amount. He also would like to link the inverters in parallel
June 6, 20233 yr Inverters would definitely need to be in parallel and on the same software version - else he will have weird issues Ideally the batteries would link to a central busbar - quantity isn't as much an issue - it depends how much backup they need as a household. Panels would need to be split across the inverters as well - possibly 10 per inverter based on roof direction etc
June 6, 20233 yr Would need 4 strings of 5 which is not ideal, VOC would be an issue with 2x10. 3x8 would probably be better but would need 4 more panels, depending on the roof direction.

Something that I forgot to mention is that his Eskom supply is a 3 Phase supply although his house is wired using 1 phase for the ground floor. The second phase for the first floor and the 3rd phase for the second floor. He also has a standby generator with a change over switch and sounds like that is the point where he wants to connect the solar power. This doesn't sound right to me?
