Help with ECCO Inverter - Battery not discharging

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

hoping you can help. Having a bit of a nightmare trying to get this inverter set up correctly. My installer has emigrated, without telling anyone, and I'm now a bit stuck.

The system: 4x 555w panels, ECCO 5.5kw Inverter, ECCO 48v 100Ah Li Battery.

All has been up and running for about 6 weeks. However I have noticed that there is no communication between the batt and the inverter. Upon checking the settings, I see that the battery type (setting 5) was set to AGM, not a Lithium Profile. If I follow the instructions that came with the battery, and set the profile to Li4, all seems to work ok, there is communication, until we have no utility power. The inverter then "trips" and resets itself ad infinitum. (as if the battery is not allowing itself to be discharged) If I then go back to the AGM setting, all is well, but there is no Li on the LCD display. I am hoping I just have some or other setting wrong, or perhaps AGM is the correct setting to begin with, and I'm just fussing. Another note, if I set the inverter to a Lithium profile, the app on my phone tells me that the battery is at 3336%, which doesn't sound correct either...

If anyone needs any more info to help me solve this, please let me know. Am happy to upload any pics, or setting info you may need.

Thanks in advance, and greetings from a surprisingly sunny Swellendam.

Uwe

Hi @freakoid9000,

Did you check for custom settings for the battery? My budget 2.2kva inverter has a lithium setting which offers an additional display but does not have the same voltage settings as my lithium battery so I just use the custom setting that sets the max, float & cut-off voltage to what my battery states it's good for.

Hi, on the Li4 setting the battery will protect itself and trip if the load is to high. When the utility falls away your load is higher than what the battery can handle and that point and it will trip. After 80 seconds the battery will restart.  Thank you for the reply gents. Much appreciated.

@Raymond Nel thank you Raymond. It can't be that the load is too high - the only high load items on the inverter are the oven, and the fridge, and the oven was not on at the time. I think I have some or other setting wrong. I am currently using the battery on "USE" with the supplied settings. (so without communication) However I would much prefer to have the lithium profile with communication running, as I'm, sure it will be more efficient.

The instructions state the following settings for the Li profile, please could you let me know if this is correct:

On the battery, Dip Switch 1 is in the ON position

RS485 cable between inverter and battery

Program 5: Li4 (is Li4 correct? or should it be Li1 or 2 or 3?)

Thanks! I appreciate any help with this.

Regards
