  3. Dongle still available...previous purcaser returned it as the serial number was still showing as in use by me. I managed to get to guys at SmartESS to delete that expired data from their server so the dongle is ready for resale/re-use.
  4. So I did get the wifi dongle that works with my inverter! Amazing device that provides so much more live data & history for analysis of my usage patterns etc. It's extremely useful for battery percentage available as I had to manually calculate voltage available. The SmartESS app does this automatically based on the max charge & cut-off values specified for the user defined battery settings. Also, the app allows you to edit the inverter settings on the fly & monitor usage on any browser
  5. I'm currently upgrading my 12v portable setup for a 48v db board setup & have narrowed it down to the 3 inverters mentioned in the subject line. Anybody with experience on either of them? Pros & Cons? Conderenergy 6.2kW Pros (R6200) 1. Price 2. Higher output (6.2kW) 3. Dual output power Ecco 5.5kW Pros (R6850) 1. 5 year repair warranty 2. Connecting cables MUST 5kW Pros (R6999) 1. Multiple communication ports (wifi + battery) 2. Parallel connectivity for possible future expansion. Any guidance will be appreciated. UPS/battery will be used until I can add solar.
  6. Is an additional DC breaker/fuse required between battery & inverter if the battery already has a breaker? NB: This is for a portable trolley setup

I'm currently using it as a UPS & the transfer time from grid to battery has been sufficient enough so I was hoping that the overload bypass would be good enough for me to connect it straight to the db board so that there's never an issue while the grid is available but I know now that it's not feasible...bigger inverter required.
  8. It's a Chinese inverter branded Inkwenkwezi... I tested adding a 2kw load after your reply & it beeped with a fault code.

  10. Connectivity between the DataLogger<-->Router<-->Server all work on SmartESS but there is no communication between my inverter & the DataLogger

  12. Sorry for the newbie questions but isn't the purpose of the fuse to prevent surges either way (input/output)? There are only 2 cables (+/-) going into the inverter so where would the 2 fuses be installed? One on each cable? Also, shouldn't it matter if it's connected in series/parallel? The calculation for the required fuse that I found online is (rated power / voltage) × 1.25 Would those 2 suggested fuses be half of the total size each? In my head, 1 fuse makes more sense but I'm sure somebody will correct me if i'm wrong...my 2c

  16. I've been running a 2.2kva (1.8kw) hybrid inverter with a 12v 100ah lithium lifepo4 battery as a UPS for the last week & it has been running flawlessly in bypass mode for the last week. It is located in my dining room & I have an extension cord running to the lounge & another running to the spare room/office. The load hardly gets to 300w with the Playstation on & stays below 200 if the Playstation is off (most of the time). The battery doesn't seem half used after 4 hour load shedding. I've set the float to 13.6v/13.8v & the voltage never drops below 12.7v. Cut-off voltage is 11.2v & equalized voltage is 14.4v. I think I can safely add the lights (all led) & rest of the house plugs (excluding the kitchen because of the appliances). The question now is, should I add the UPS connectivity to the db board or just clean up the extension cords with some trunking pvc? Aside from the small noise from the always-on fan, I have no issue with the inverter being in the dining room. Any pros/cons that I'm missing?

I ended up getting a Inkwenkwezi pure sine wave 12v 2.2kva (1800w) inverter & in my searches for a 12v lithium battery, I stumbled across a new, unbranded 12v 100ah lithium Lifepo4 battery on Facebook Marketplace that i've been testing over the last few days. The battery looks exactly like the HALO S100 12.8V 1.2KWh with the exact same technical specifications. Still trying to figure out the best settings to use before I get a professional installer (with COC) to wire it up to my db board (minus geyser & Kitchen plugs) The lithium setting on my inverter has a fixed "Bulk charge" of 14.1v & low dc cut-off of 10.5v but my lithium battery has an "Equalized Voltage" of 14.4v & low dc cut-off of 11.2v so i've opted for the custom user setting at the expense of losing the additional lithium display that is available when selecting Lithium battery option. I also don't know what to set the float voltage at so I just left it at the default of 13.5v until I can figure it out...I don't want to only have 11.2v - 13.5v usable as it seems like a waste based on what's available to use Cost so far is R4 915 Thanks @Scorp007, @meetyg, @TaliaB, @Bobster. & @PsyCLown for the advice/guidance so far, it's been a joy learning from all of you!
  19. Hi @freakoid9000, Did you check for custom settings for the battery? My budget 2.2kva inverter has a lithium setting which offers an additional display but does not have the same voltage settings as my lithium battery so I just use the custom setting that sets the max, float & cut-off voltage to what my battery states it's good for.
  20. If a lower power hybrid ups inverter (1.8Kw) is added to my chain, can the inverter be bypassed when the demand exceeds the inverters 1.8Kw output? As far as I understand, the hybrid inverters role is to get power in the most efficient manner from the available sources (solar/utility/battery) but I'm not sure if I'm limited by the size of the inverter? I just want a basic 12v backup solution for TV & wifi that compliments my current noisy generator solution which will only be used for anything over 2-4 hours... I'm currently testing the unit manually with a 3 way multiplug for AC out & 3 pin plug for AC in & the load is sometimes over 200w. Would it be worthwhile to add the connectivity straight to the db board so that I can add the lights as well? This is basically just a UPS solution & if the bypass function will allow me to just automatically switch the source for higher loads (microwave, washing machine & dishwasher), then I will connect straight to db board...I will obviously leave out the geyser switch & can leave out the kitchen plugs switch as this is where the big appliances stay.

  22. not going with 3.5kva (2100w) modified sine wave anymore but rather the 2.2kva (1800w) pure sine wave for peace of mind... but also, i'm going to pick up the digital watt meter today so that I know my exact usage will be. Thanks for the advice so far & food for thought, appreciate it. I will let you know the full cost once I get everything but so far, i've found a shop that is selling them for R5k. Inverter price still pending
