Having moved from rural KZN to George and taking my self installed solar system (Sunsynk 8Kw) which was coc compliant with me, I now am looking at installing it here. Having got some quotes I think are very high and widely divergent I would like to do all/most of the install myself but due to all the regulations which apply here I am looking for a competent solar electrician who can supervise me and sign off with coc but who will charge a reasonable fee for his/her trouble. Can anyone recommend a good solar installer in Midrand? I got quoted slightly more than R50K for the installation of 16 panels and 2 batteries to my existing setup. This included the mounting brackets for a corrugated steel roof, cabling between the panels and DB (10metres) and all the extra bits and bops. It excludes the batteries and panels themselves, which I sourced myself. There's enough space on my inverters for the additional strings. Seems a bit excessive, or is that the going rate?

Hey Do we have local guys that can repair these? One of my bmses decided to no longer read the voltages of pin 7 and 8, I have tested the wires and they are all good and reading correctly. However, when I tested the resistance on the board itself, pin 7 & 8 read at 0.00. So wondering if there are local repairers? Already ordered a replacement in the meantime, if anyone is up to try

Hi all, I have a 5kW inverter and 2x 5,7kWh batteries. It coveres most of my usage but obviously run short in winter when weather is bad. Situated in Cape Town. I have contacted 2 companies. The one I paid R750 upfront for a site visit etc. The other waiting for them to organise a site visit. Its 2 weeks later and still have not got back to me so I would like more recommendations. I am looking for a Sunsynk-approved installer to assist with trouble-shooting the integration of a generator into a Sunsynk Inverter and Battery solar PV system. The generator has failed to start automatically, after loss of City Power grid and the batteries going down to the SOC level at which the inverter is set to send a start signal to the generator controller. In the end the system shut down as the batteries reached the shutdown level of 20%. The client is in the Bryanston area, in Johannesburg. We are solar installers ourselves. I am on 082 805 5677
