Installer Reccomendations

Featured Replies

Hey all,

We are finally ready to pull the trigger on doing our solar installation and I'm looking for reccomended installers with decent pricing?
I was looking at The Solar Guys but seems they have a ton of scam reports so im a bit hesitant to engage.

We are based in centurion.

Don't buy just on price. There is always somebody who can the job a bit cheaper. Try to get references from other customers, and not just recent customers but people a few months down the road. Try to find out if they follow best practice and give a COC after the install. Try to get an idea of their level of support.

My installation is 6 years old now. Earlier this year I called the installers to say my inverter was behaving oddly. They don't even install that brand of inverter recently, but they still provided support and got the problem fixed. And that sort of support of is worth something.

thanks, yeah thats what im trying to achieve, was hoping for a few good references from here.
I agree and wont just go for the cheapest but ive seen prices vary wildly as example one person quotes R55 000 on invertor next person quotes R42 000 on the same thing. I Dont mind paying a bit more if that gives a sense of security and good aftersales service but i refuse to pay 10K more on items like an invertor or 5K more on a battery.

OK... you're in Gauteng so my guys will be interested in talking to your. Solar4Life. Also contact @Steve87 on this forum. He has a good reputation.

Inverters and especially batteries are not all equal and you need to look beyond the rated power.

When my system was installed I had one brand of battery installed. The system was always a little unstable, with the batteries shutting down for no obvious reason. At first I thought that maybe this is just the way it is with solar power: Everything is a bit unstable and needs regular kicks up the behind. Eventually the battery manufacturer got involved, but nothing improved. Then the installer offered me a buy-back on that battery and replaced it with a Freedom Won of the same capacity. Totally different experience. System got a lot more stable and reliable. Proper comms between inverter and battery. That Freedom Won costs more, but in my experience it is a superior product.

Thanks but I dont think i will use them.

Leshen and Steve87 are some of the well recommended installers on the forum. Both master installers and on site doing and supervising the work themselves. Both will give you personal support and reply to queries on whatsapp at any time.

Search the forums yourself for them.

Much better than many other bigger companies which may have shoddy workmanship, no personal support, difficult to contact etc.

Nevertheless, just suggestions.
