Posted March 11, 20196 yr The planning of my Solar Project is slowly moving forward Looking at a Victron BlueSolar MPPT 75/15. This unit has a facility to switch off the load (DC) when the batteries voltage drop too low I want to switch the load to ESKOM when this happens (AC) Is there a way to use the DC no load (off) to switch the AC on??

So when the relay in the charger is on (I actually think it uses a FET, I hear no clicking), it powers the contactor and switches the sources. You could also just use a normal 12V relay as an intermediary switch which will then power the contactor. This option will also allow you to use a common double pole contactor with a 230VAC coil, easier to source and often cheaper. I do note in the VE.Can registers documentation that there is a vreg (the basis for basically all configuration on blue devices, do not be confused by the "Can" tag, vedirect devices use it too) to invert the relay function, but I have no idea if it is supported by solar chargers, and even if it is, it is not accessible through VictronConnect and therefore the ordinary guy probably can't get at it. Also, even though I have a charger lying on my table... the power supply I power it with is on the other end of the house doing something else... so I'm not going to test it right now 🙂
