October 16, 20241 yr Dear friends, I have 6 x US3000C and this 1 x US5000 battery. I charge them every day during PV production and run them at night without any grid. Lately as I reach full charge on all batteries, the US5000 won't go over the 4th led, even though when turned ON, all six leds plus the red one come on. I have Battery View ver. 3.0.37 and have checked this battery condition and it all seems fine (to me)... I'm right now carrying out a thorough test, but nothing seems to be wrong apart from the leds. I'm prepared to carry out an update, but here I find my other doubt; according to the battery it has version V1 .3 and EFFECTA and Pylontech show that to be the latest firmware; only difference being that the batteries date goes down to 22-08-10 and the one I can install are US5000_E3_V1.3_Crc.bin and US5000_V1.3_Crc.bin which are 29/09/2022... I'd hate to brick the battery. I know that the program should pick the correct one from the *.zip file, but what if not? Besides, whatever the outcome is from the update, I still most probably have the led problem, Any advise will be very appreciated. SpanishFlyer
October 16, 20241 yr Pylontech batteries can take a long time going from 89% SOC up to 100%. It's just one of those things with them. SOC is also calculated by measuring the power going in and out and not by the battery voltage in the main with pylontech. What ages are the batteries? Edited October 16, 20241 yr by Tinbum
October 16, 20241 yr Author Thanks Tinbum, I leave them charging whatever it takes and up till recently all seven batteries charged together at the same time... I have also tried to charge the US5000 by it self, from the same inverter and it just won't go over the fourth led. I also tried with an external charger and same thing happens.... One more thing, even though the leds dance between the third and fourth, I believe that 3.4 volts per cell and a total of 51.3 Volts is more like 90% or more charge. BR, SpanishFlyer
October 16, 20241 yr Looking at the temperatures in your BatteryView shot it looks as if the battery may be balancing the cells. Cell 12 is low. Battery ages?
October 16, 20241 yr Author I have never updated any of my batteries, so in this case the US5000 must be from 2022. By the way I have "tried" to update the firmware and it won't go through for some "unknown" exception : ( , but my guess is that it is already the latest. Take a look at the screenshot. October 16, 20241 yr I would leave the firmware alone. Your cell 12 voltage is low and the battery is trying to balance the cells. It's unusual for the cells to go out of balance under normal use. The cell balancing current is very low so this will take a long long time. I would be tempted to contact Pylontech, sending a copy of the log files for this battery, stating it never gets to 100% SOC as I suspect you may have a faulty cell.
October 16, 20241 yr Author Thanks a lot Tinbum, I fully agree with you, cells 11 and 12 are slightly lower, and if after many days of leaving the battery in standby and after trying to finish the charge with 2-3 amps and a battery charger, it is still not charging or balancing, we might find some cell damage. I will contact Pylontech and send them all the data, to see if they can tell me what is wrong. Problem is that these things are not cheap.... Best regards, Spanish Flyer
