Blocked meter

Featured Replies

Goodday, If one property sharing water and electricity has 2 prepaid meters for 2 different houses. One pays his half of the water account and the other one doesn't will both prepaid meters be blocked when in arrears?

If both prepaid meters are linked to the same main municipal account then arrears from either house can cause both meters to be blocked. If each meter has its own separate municipal account number, only the one in arrears will be blocked.

Does the property have 2 x prepaid for water and 2 prepaid for power?

Where do you live? Which municipality? Who do pay for your electricity?

We have seen in Johannesburg how everything goes on one bill if you get electricity from City Power. And so if you are short paying for one service then your whole bill is in arrears & the City has no way of knowing which part of the bill you are not paying. And so they start cutting off services.

They will be more reasonable if you go to speak to them and work out a payment plan.
