System to power small Lodge with multiple buildings.

Featured Replies

Hi.

I am calling out the solar Guru's out there to maybe give me some advice.

I have a client with basically 7 buildings some private, some for a very upmarket Lodge.

The idea was to put small 5kva victron system with 12 panels in each unit with a lithium battery and run a ESS system.

He also has a big generator as standby.

This will not be near enough to go of grid but will run hes rooms when there is no eskom and with proper management.

Problem is what will happen if he starts hes generator to cover the balance that the solar cannot provide ?

I prefer modular as only one room goes down  if there is a problem, can you can split your essential and non essential loads at each point.

Anyone got any advice on this ?

I'm not quite sure what the issue is? The plan as sketched seems fine to me. Run two circuits in each building, one that holds essential stuff and one that doesn't. Each building gets its own inverter as suggested. And ESS works perfectly well with a generator should you need to, or if you want to charge batteries. All units can be accessed via the local network too, should you need to make adjustments.

The generator is at the eskom supply and it currently feeds the whole farm(lodge) through seperate cables. Its all 3 phase installations .

Can you message me your details if you dont mind so i can discuss ?
