If so, please PM. Will take it up tomorrow afternoon.

Well, I soft-bricked it. The little cheap Mediatek thing has something called fastboot on it, and as long as you can get it into fastboot, you can flash it. So it is never completely bricked as long as the bootloader is still there. Same goes for most controller units these days. You can usually flash it again once you get the right firmware. Since most hardware makers use some kind of reference design from the CPU maker these days, this pattern is just about standard now. In the event that it really is bricked: Well then you need some clever bloke with a the programmer kit and software for that processor.

Kinda like an Axpert inverter 😛 Anyway, so after some months it spontaneously starts loading ads and throwing it up in your face whenever you unlock the phone or try to answer a call. So a firmware reset is performed, thinking that the malware must have somehow snuck in with something else. As it turns out, not the case: Some of these phones actually ship from the factory already infected. The malware is in the factory firmware. It only activates a few weeks into your "ownership". But it is a Mediatek device, and someone actually went to the trouble of making a LineageOS build for it. So I simply rooted it and flashed new firmware onto it. Well... not simply... but we got there after about 4 hours 🙂 Edited October 15, 20196 yr by plonkster
October 23, 20196 yr Author Right, so there is a key-press combination to get the Solis inverter into "recovery mode" during boot, so it can be re-flashed (phew!). It isn't easy to get the key press timing right, but it can be done. Did this yesterday afternoon, so now we are back in business. Once again it was me who had to RTFM and step the installer through the process. This time I made doubly sure the software supplied was the correct software for the inverter. So, we are back in business. The version jump was 11 to 18, quite a big one. The display has changed a bit with regards feedback limiting, so some work has been done on that between the versions. Anecdotal evidence suggests the feedback situation has improved as a result, but I will do more in depth testing when I have time and there's less cloud. Have also struck up a conversation with Solis UK and will work through wrinkles directly with them going forward. They seem amenable to this. Not letting installer anywhere near my installation again, they are now just responsible for submitting the paperwork to CoCT. It is ready and bundled and has been since last week, but still not submitted, so if I don't have confirmation that this has been done by mid day tomorrow I will go and fetch it and do it myself.

Dit the installer get a Pr. Eng or Pr. Tech to sign-off on the system? There are a few steps and tests that need to be done by a professionally registered engineer or technician before sign-off! When I was doing this for my system, I found that the system was exporting to the grid! Oops! Good ol' credit meter so no tripping at least! Found that 1 setting was not put in to the inverter correctly! The setting was where to measure the grid from! The Current Sensor option was not selected! It is now fixed and my paper work needs to go in as well... Just don't like all that effort and admin! I am glad your system is back and running, I am still glad for every kWh mine generates!

Yes, that is part of the bundle waiting to be submitted. 2 hours ago, Rautenk said: Found that 1 setting was not put in to the inverter correctly! Am not entirely sure that the settings are correct regardless of the sign-off, hence this thread (partly). Will pursue that separately for my own peace of mind.
