October 5, 20205 yr Hi guys, I want to install a lightning protection mast for a thatched roof structure. I have worked out the length to be 12 meters for level 1 protection. My question what is the standard type of mast in terms of materials used and how do I ensure proper earthing since the area is rocky. Also the owner wants to insure the building, what standards do the insurance companies look for in terms of lightning protection?

Don’t think they do, I declared no mast when I insured, they accepted. Just my experience.
