November 3, 20205 yr Hi everyone, I am trying to build a 4kW off-grid PV system. I want to use a 48V 85amp controller and I am wondering if this is OK to use a 4 12V 110Ah batteries (in series) because I see that their maximum charging current is 30Amps and the controller at maximum will give 85amps. Thanks, Anan

Some charge controllers can set a maximum charge current. If so, set it to 30 A. If there is no such setting, then 85 A will certainly be bad for a lead acid battery specified for a maximum charge current of 30 A.
