Going off grid and building a mud house in Eastern Cape. Solar advice needed.

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,
I have been reading forums and watching Sir Will Prowse for the past 2 weeks non stop. The options are endless and that brakes my brain.

I think I have finally narrowed down what I want.... kind of.

So I have already ordered the 24V DIY LiFePO4 Kit from LithiumBatSA. So that is already sorted.

For the inverter I am looking at 2 options (this is where I need help)
The RCT Axpert VM3 3kVA Pure Sine Wave Inverter: I like that I can run a 1500watt solar array with it.
OR
Growatt SPF3000TL-24. It can only take a 1000watt PV array.

I will start off with buying 3x 330watt solar panels and run them in series.

Some questions that I do have are, will the BMS of the LFP battery conflict with the inverter, and do I need a fuse between my Battery and Inverter.

Thanks in advance all,
Tomas

Three panels might not push out enough voltage for the RCT Axpert as it need 120VDC minimum you might have to get a fourth panel to get a voltage of above 120VDC. I don't know the growatt specs if that can run on three panels.

Thanks for your feedback Gerrie.
I have actually overlooked that. Now I am thinking that even if I get 4 x 330watt, that will make around 120V in series at MAX efficiency.
If it is even a bit overcast the MPPT might not even kick in. Eish.

Otherwise I must look at the smaller Inverter options.
The Mecer Hybrid Mks Plus 3Kva 2.4Kw 24Vdc I see is on Takealot for R8k.
So technically it will be then between the above mentioned or the Growatt SPF3000TL-24.

Anyone have a reason to take one of the above mentioned instead of the other?
Any other recommendations or options would be much appreciated.

It must just be compatible with a DIY 24v LFP battery.
