  1. I bought the AlphaESS Smile5 and luckily got rid of it 1 year later due to it having issues not working off grid . There was no support and they only changed their manual after I had sold mine. Now I have 2x5kva Victron inverters installed and can't be happier. I rather spend more than buy unsupported Chinese equipment.
  2. Based on the above reply they should not be selling this inverter in South Africa. What happens if there is load shedding during sunset hours? Why can't they just switch off incoming DC power when it drops below a certain threshold? I need some time to digest this....
  3. And I thought I was the only one having the flickering lights issue with the Alpha Ess Smile5 when run in off grid mode.... I narrowed the issue down to 20 minutes after the sun has disappeared behind the mountain in the evening. Like clockwork the lights start to flicker and the PCs start crashing. Sometimes the net stabilises but on other times I need to switch on the grid. I measured the frequency this evening and normally the multimeter gives a constant reading of 50Hz but during the flickering stage it goes up to 54.12Hz (see picture)!! I haven't yet received any support from Alpha Ess for my issue. Has anybody made any progress or can they share a contact? Thanks, Jürgen
