I really have searched here and pretty much everywhere... the more I search, the more confused I get.
I asked for a 100A BMS with active balancer for 8s (24V).
The vendor suggests a JK-BD6A20S10P. $65, which sounds good. Except, it has pins for 20 cells, not 8.
Trying to find out the proper way to connect just 8 cells, I really get confusing and conflicting information.
Some people say, just connect the first 8 pins. Some say, yes, but connect the last pin (B8), to B1 as well. Like so:
But then some say, pretty much, No! Don't do that! If you do that the BMS will shut off, you'll cause a chain reaction which will EMP everything for a 69 miles radius, your neighbours will be mighty pissed off, the Central Scrutinizer will... er...
Now, the manual I found for that BMS, does suggest that type of connection, but says: "If use the BMS for lower voltage than 36V, pls use the booster together."
And "12v battery, use 12v to 48v booster, 24v battery use 24v to 48v booster."
I asked about the booster, drew a blank. So, do I need the "booster"? Can I make it myself? If it's just a low-current 24-to-48 converter, it's easy enough.
Does anyone know?
