  1. Hi All. Ive been looking at security cameras at my place. And came across these wyze cam v3. Although you have to pay for the extra features, im really liking the tech and features for the price. Wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with them. Would love to get some feedback. Thanks
  2. Hi All, so it seems my supply has changed. Im actually getting a 3phase supply in. What I wanted to know is will i be force to get the sunsynk 3 - phase 12kw? The balance wont be correct as the main house will consume much more than 4kw. or is there another solution?
  3. Thanks this will really help. Going to add this to my configuration.
  4. Thanks...Will definitely take this into consideration.
  5. Thanks all for the reply. This is what im looking at doing. The non-essential loads in the rentals will be direct Eskom only. Eventually will move them behind the solar system when i can afford to. Any advice and input is much appreciated.
  6. Hi All, Wanted to get some advice on weather to go with 1 system or 3 separate systems. Im going to be building a house with 2 small cottages(rentals). I have a single phase Eskom 80amp coming in. I was going to run 2 x 8 kw invertors and all 3 houses on 1 system. I was told by the guys im buying the equipment from i wont be able to meter the cottages usage(which are rentals) if i have 1 system. and I should setup 3 separate systems. not sure which way to go here. Any advice? Kind Regards Zeo
  7. Hi All, Im looking at the ""BYD 5kWh Lithium-Ion Battery"" - 100% DOD and 1C. Anybody have any experience with this brand? Thanks in advance
  8. The company i plan to buy the Alpha from have confirmed Deye invertors are fine...and they will honor the warantee. So just confirm with the company you bought it from. It should be fine.
  9. Hi All, So i spoke to the guys at SOLAR ADVICE. and they saying Alpha will honor the warantees with deye invertors.
  10. I sent the question to the guys at solarshop.co.za They didn't send me the write up.
  11. Here's the answer "Question: Can I use a Fusion 10kw invertor with this battery? Or does it have to be alpha or goodwe invertors? Answer: Hi Zain, we have it in writing from Alpha ESS that they will not honour any warranties if you use the battery with this inverter (or a Sunsynk or Deye)" So I'll need to look at goodwe or alpha invertors. Or another battery make.
  12. Got you. I'll work on the 4 hour worst case scenario. Can The extra Pv can be used in other ways after the battery is charged? Like If theres loadshedding I can give my neighbor a plug point to do his washing or something
  13. @Sc00bs I see you trying to get me to stay away from Eskom. Haha. Can't blame you. I still cant getbover the cost of connection and why I have to pay for their grid. I think Im going to have to run the numbers. There's a R300 connection fee per month. R500 depending on what supply i take. I'm not sure, I have asked if the alphas can be connected to the sunsynks. Just waiting for a reply. I did see someone systems pic on this forum with an alpha battery. I'll double check. Thanks
  14. Thanks for the reply. Are you working on 4 hours a day production? 545 x 29 = 15805 x 4 = 63? I used 4.5 to 5 hours a day production. I think when looking at the graphs, it's becoming ever likely I'll have tobhave Eskom as a backup. Even if it's just for my essential loads. If I have 2 x 8kw Sunsynk invertors in parallel, what Eskom supply would I need? Should I just make sure the supplies amps can cover my essential loads across all 3 houses? I think because the house is not built my usage is just an assumption at the moment. Like @Sc00bs mentioned i need to relook at the system a few months in.
  15. Last question do you have a recommended installer?
  16. Will make sure it has a VSD. Tell me for gravity fed how high does it have to be off the ground?
  17. I'm in Johannesburg. the 8kw sunsynk invertor is 10.4kw max. So if i overwatt the panels to say 12Kw will the inverter just cut the extra supply? Going to be putting in a pressure pump. So I'm assuming that's the other high drawing item. the roof will have mainly north east, north and west faces. And some east faces. This is across all 3 houses.
  18. Thanks for this. What's you pv size if don't mind me asking?
  19. Thanks Really Appreciate the time and details. To understand you correctly its better to have 1 single system for all 3 houses? I just need to monitor my tenants usage. Will i be able to split the single phase and put a meter at each cottage? I want to be able split each unit to have its own db board. And then meter each db board so I can charge a small fee for electricity usage to avoid abuse of the system. I was thinking of getting a gas oven and stove. So no appliances that heavy draw on the tenants side. Also for heating a fire place - which should warm up the 80sqms. So try and limit their usage of high draw appliances. also which type of appliances are 3 phase appliances? Definitely will then add monitoring and the home assistant. It just makes more sense. With the home assistant I can switch off and on loads remotely? I know the Fusion invertors are made by deyes as well. But I'm looking at all 3 of those brands. Which ever brand has the best support and interface I'll probably go with. Eskom charge the monthly fee and they now asking nersa to further ask solar users to pay to be connected to the grid. However The cost of running the generator is worrying me. Are there any days when your production is 0 for the day? Or what percentage is the worst we get in South Africa. On bad days do we get 25% / 50% production?
  20. Thanks this has been really helpful. 1)i need to clarify so once the batteries are full, whatever they solar is producing can be used to run highdrawing appliances ovens geysers etc 2)the other 2 houses can be considered as 1. It's really small flats. So Not expecting much usage. So I'm hoping the 15kw for both will suffice. To give u an indication the main house is 300sqm and the both flats combined is 160sqm. Thanks definitely going to look at control and monitoring.
  21. Thanks for this really helps. What is your system if u don't mind me asking?
  22. Does anyone have a Fusion invertor? Any advice or feedback on these? How's the interface ?
  23. It'll be 4 gas geysers. 2 for the main house and 1 each for the tenants. But I get ur point. A solar geyser will reduce the gas usage savign money in the long run. However I need to consider the cost of the solar geysers being almost 25k each. Which is 50k worth of panels.
  24. I did look at the option of solar with a gas boost, however my investigations with gas geyser I.e the Palermo is they good enough on their own. I think cost wise it'll be a saving. I might consider a 1 x solar geyser to feed all the apartments....boosted by gas budget pending. Thanks
  25. Thanks Nico, appreciate the advise. I estimated usage based on my current usage and minused my electric geyser.I know one of the tenants so got their usage as well...and used that as a base line. They will be tenants. The size of the flats are quite small. 80sqm. So not expecting much usage. Will have usage instructions in the contract etc. It makes sense to run 3 invertors. However I'm hoping to get away with 2. 1 for the main house and 1 for the tenants. The boreholenis shared amongst neighbour's so I'll leave that seperate, but I think you correct to move the pool pump onto the main house. Will take a look at the emergency led lights. Wrt to the pylon batteries. The cycles are 6000, since I'm paying it off I was hoping for more cycles to maximize roi. Hence the 8000cycle on the alphas. No aircons in the tenants section. 2 in the main house. I'm hoping if it's hot that means we should be over producing and can run the aircons?
