Solar panel water ingress
Good morning, I just drew it out since its easier to see this way. Funny enough if he planned correctly according to OEM specifications, the quote would have saved 8 IBR short brackets. So the quote(48 brackets) even implies he planned for the wrong installation. Kind Regards

He quoted twice, rails and IBR truncated brackets, no where did he communicate the problem(non OEM compliance) with the cheaper solution. We asked for a cheaper quote which he provided.

Solar panel water ingress
Just an update, LONGI rejected the installers warranty claim.(no surprise) Installer is shifting the blame to us, saying we wanted cost saving brackets. I have filed a consumer goods complaint against the installer at CGSO online, with all the evidence and correspondence. Anywhere else I can report?

Solar panel water ingress
Hi there so if we look at the following illustrations then the next page That would mean the only correct installation method for these panels, is the long frame as per 1st image mid left. All other options are not supported. This is going to be a fun conversation... Thanks for everyone's inputs so far ! Nou moet ek gaan baklei met n bra :/ Eish

Hi, I think it might just be easier to make the new rails higher on one side than lift the IBR roof as a whole.

Solar panel water ingress
I have used only water, and squeegee before. I do not plan on using vinegar or any detergent tbh. Regarding the angle of the panels, yes it is low, my house has an asbestos roof, so cannot place it elsewhere. WhatsApp Video 2026-01-25 at 10.38.10 (1).mp4 the water draining clips work fine for this purpose, the installer needs to return and fix the brackets and spacings firstly, which would allow proper installation of the draining clips. Whether it needs replacement is why I started this thread, and ask for insights on the water ingress, which is already below the glass surface. ISO alcohol was used since it is a good solvent that evaporates quickly enough and normally cuts through most stains on a glass surface. The curved nature of the ingress spots is due to the bend in the middle of the panel from lack of support, and the water not being able to drain properly due to my roofs low angle. Question 1: will it catch fire? due to short circuit etc? Question 2: If the railings where fixed adding support and the draining clips attached, would this still be a problem that requires attention? Question 3: Shall I pursue replacement of my 16 panels since they all have these marks considering installer error caused it? I'd appreciate help with these questions, the installer is coming over in the week so I'd appreciate feedback or concerns that I can relay to him. Kind Regards

Right... 2.9° not 23°.

Solar panel water ingress
They are at a 23° angle and not flat. Agreed the manufacturer states it needs to be properly supported, which these are not. I am not the installer, I need to get him to fix his work, so that's why I ask here. I'm also trying to determine what option to take, the system is insured, so if the installer was at fault the insurance company can pursue them. regards

Just adding more pics for reference Every morning dew puddle forms on each panel during summer months. This panel was cleaned yesterday Also cleaned yesterday

Solar panel water ingress
Hi all, I recently cleaned my panels with water and a squeegee. I noticed that these marks do no go away, and is causing heavy dirt build up due to lack of centre supports on the panels. Here is a side picture showing the lack of support in the centre of the panels I cleaned the panels in the end of November, had to clean them again yesterday since the accumulation in those spots is very hectic and seems to put the panels in bypass mode for those rows of cells. here is a video https://photos.app.goo.gl/QxJgjDmDBUVqC7Dd7 Here is some data for the difference observed, both days 26°C outside as per weather station. Y-PVT = yesterday 23% difference when cleaned. My question ultimately is what now? Request new panels and proper mounting? or request just proper mounting? they are 575W Longi HiMO 6 - LR5-72HTH575M panels installed May 2024. I am however printing water draining clips galore in PETG. Regards

Hi You can change the parameters and protocol using this software https://github.com/Psynosaur/Deye_LowVoltageBmsUpperComputer/releases/tag/v1.18 regards

Hey, I have not reverse engineered the RS485 bus as much as the CAN spec Is there something specific you're looking for?

Even stranger is you report low current as an issue, where as I observe there is no issue with low currents, discharging(pic above post) or charging(below). Strange indeed

Deye SE-G5.1 Pro batteries
Mmmh That is still strange behaviour. 197W on both, split nice and evenly (0.3A difference) under very little load Did they update everything online? Cheers

Fluctuating grid frequency in Pretoria
Good morning This is normal Cape Town yesterday in your timeframe the frequency change in the graph is exacerbated by the short time span, if we increase the timespan it is within the "normal" distribution cheers

You can get the latest LVESS software here: https://github.com/Psynosaur/Deye_LowVoltageBmsUpperComputer/releases Regarding the variations in soc, perhaps see if there is a potential major cell voltage delta in each or one of the packs. DISCHARGE MOSFET ISSUE So far when a cell on battery 2 reached 3.6V before battery 1(100% SOC mark), then I've found battery 2 does not discharge and battery 1 takes all the load until a manual power cycle of both batteries. SOC DRIFT ISSUE See if you can drain them to 2.9V if the SOC is above 2% it normally resets to 2% SOC, Then charging up from this factory recalibration routine for lack of better term, the discharge curves are more in line with one another. I've done this on both when they where nearly empty to drain them to 2.9V. The first cell to hit 2.9V triggers this behaviour. Perhaps that can get them both in line a bit more, as the upper recalibration ("100%" SOC) might be off due to potential imbalance. Here are some examples 16% => 2% One week later it happened again, then I drained both to 2.9V. 14%=2% It would seem that there is some logic in the FW that resets the SOC to 2% when any of the cells reach 2.9V It happened the other day again, but much smaller gap 6%=>2% There are observations and theory in my reply and your milage may vary.

MOehahahaha its works XD Edit: will update code to send this heartbeat to activate cell information https://github.com/Psynosaur/esphome-deye-bms/issues/3

Deye SE-G5.1 Pro batteries
Good day I think this will activate the cell information Extended frame ID 0x18A2FF80 DLC=>1 Data=> 01 every 1 second Extended frame ID 0x18A20080 DLC=>1 Data=> 01 only sent when connecting via Deye app Testing it on the esphome now, restarted the batteries and my MCP2515 also does not read cell voltages. will provide some feedback

Deye SE-G5.1 Pro batteries
Hi In my case this might have been invoked by the first or second battery in my array, so the heartbeat signal might have gone unnoticed for intercan I will see which frame this might be and perhaps implement it when found. Cheers

Deye SE-G5.1 Pro batteries
Hi there Yes i am using this device. What version of the LVESS CAN software are you running? Perhaps its outdated for your model of battery? Are you also running the same model of battery as I am? Im also on 2008 firmware. Cheers

Hi The ESP32-C6 can have up to two esp_can busses. For this project it is better to have MCP2515(InterCan) and one ESP_CAN(PCS). The C6 is merely for the ESP in the middle. I'm sure you'd be able to use it without BMS communication. I have not yet sent commands to the RS485 of the inverter logger . Regards

Deye SE-G5.1 Pro batteries
Hi What inverter do you have? I'm sure you can set it to AGM mode, 55.2V bulk and equalization(90mins) and 53.6V for float. Those are the parameters I set via CAN Regards
