  1. Had loadshedding this evening which finished with my freedom won battery at 11%. I don't normally go that low but had a high draw during loadshedding that I was not aware of. When eakom power came back the cerbo showed 1w from grid and did not start charging the battery. I could hear the Quattro trying to switch over every 20 seconds or so. Mains light never came on. Kept inverting. I have dropped the breaker on the freedom won battery and switched changeover switch to eskom. Have turned Quattro off. Has this happened because the battery got too low? Figured I would wait till the panels are getting power before turning on again but wondering if anyone can give me any suggestions? Thanks
  2. I tried "Optimized with BatteryLife" after an hour the PV stop producing when I was at 97%? I then put it back to "Optimized with BatteryLife" and it started to produce again. Gave it a few minutes and turned back to "Optimized without BatteryLife" and it is still charging. I'm going to leave it and see what happens tomorrow as it is supposed to be a cloudless day for once! Will report back on my findings.
  3. Thank you very much. I will try that and see what happens. I have seen in the freedom won installer document it says its mandatory to have it on " Optimized with BatteryLife" or "Keep Batteries Charged". Wonder if this effects warranty. Their reasoning for that is so batteries don't stay discharged for too long. I am keeping them at 95% though. Imagine that wont be a problem. Thanks again!
  4. Thanks for getting back to me Bobster
  5. Thanks for your reply. I have only just seen it today. I feel confident now after your explanation of the battery being used by the inverter constantly. Thank you. You mention that 55.5v is the maximum voltage set by the freedom won BMS. From the freedom won manual it says to have float charge set to 55.8 via VE Configure victron app. This is what was set by the installers. Is this overridden by the Freedom Won BMS? Thanks for your time!
  6. Very much looking forward to that! Im sure it will be appreciated by many on this forum! Thank you
  7. These dashboards are amazing! Any chance of sharing code? Thanks
  8. So its been a few weeks now and not once has my battery reached float stage. I have set my system to keep batteries charged to 100% because of our current load shedding. Load shedding is giving my battery plenty of exercise. I am still seeing that the battery jumps between 98% and 100%. I am also seeing quite a difference between low and high cell voltages. I'm really not sure that this is default behaviour. My system can be viewed on VRM world at - https://vrm.victronenergy.com/installation/207352/share/e5b174b9 Freedomwon batteries should be float charge at 55.8v My batteries have never reached that voltage.
  9. Thanks for the reply. Yes I have panels too. I really want to have as much possible for power failures as we often have full days without electricity. So I should expect the batteries to do this constantly?
  10. Hi I have just had my solar system installed. Victron system with Freedomwon 10/8 battery. The batteries are set to keep charge at 100% so that it only gets used during loadshedding. I would expect the battery to stay at 100% when fully charged and idle there. However, it is constantly charging and discharging. It will discharge to 99% and then charge up to 100%. It will charge for 15 seconds, then discharge for 15. Is this because the BMS system is trying to balance the cells? Is this normal for a new install?
  11. While I haven't implemented it just yet, I think I have found the answer. https://youtu.be/UfLpVxS2QV4 I am getting solar installed this week. Once it is all setup with correct sensors I will give it a go and report back. Thanks everyone
  12. Thanks. I have all the tariffs. The ones I quoted were EX Vat. I am in the Umlalazi district. I did not realise I hadnt mentioned where I wanted to use it. I have home assistant. I would love to see how you setup utility meter to work this out! I am going to try and play with it now. Thanks
  13. Has anyone managed to calculate Eskom bill in Home Assistant for the current month? I know there are municipalities with peak and off peak tarriffs but in our municipality you pay depending on how much Kilowatt hours you have used for the month. 0-50kwh - R1.34 51 - 300 - R1.74 301+ - R2.42 I would love to implement this so I can see at a glance how much money I have spent for the current month.

  15. Thanks guys. I'm glad I asked! Can anyone recommend an installer in the Ballito area? Is it best to order online and then have it installed?
  16. Hi I have decided to go for solar after a long while of thinking about it. I have just received a quote and would like to know if it is a fair price. 8kw Deye Hybrid Inverter 10/8 Freedomwon Lipo Battery 18x 460w Canadian Solar Panels Sundried and Labour All Installed R335,000 Is this a fair price? Thanks
