PV fuse and cable
Hi – I have a Kodak 5kw ( Axpert ) inverter. I have 2 strings of 5 JA Solar 390w Panels. Each sting has a 6mm cable to 32amp fuse. All is working just great. I now would like to add a second Inverter in parallel and add another identical PV. The PV is on a very high roof and getting the 2 cable stings up in Runking is a huge mission. I am now thinking of combining the existing 2 strings and parallel them on the roof so I can use the other cable for the new PV. I think the cable 6mm is good at 24M. The question I have is, do I need to put inline fuses on the roof or can I just combine 2 stings ( Parallel ) and will the 32A fuse be adequate? Panel is IMPP 9,7A VOC 49,35.

Advice Needed on Axpert Hybrid Solar Inverter setup.
Hi Virge. Did you ever come right with the settings on the Axpert? I have the same setup ( 2 x Leoch 48100 ) - installing now. What settings did you use?

Axpert 5KVA MPPT Cut out
Hi I was just wondering if anybody have come across the problem where the MPPT / PV stop working. I get the error H5 – Overheating or output shortage. Even with output ( 220 v ) off it does the same. We have had much hotter days on the west coast this year so ca not understand why it would cut out now? PV is 3200W and voltage measured is 82V at inverter. Could it be that the MPPT has gone? Rest is working fine – Charge from eskom good. ICC software report system at 60 degrees C

Max distance for Parallel setup with Axpert MKS 5K
Thanks all for the advice. I have have looked at all the options and decided to install a stand-alone system on second building that does feed only AC output from inverter to my existing building. I will install a manual changeover switch that allow me to use access power when needed. ( Night time ) I plan to install a larger battery bank in new building. My consumption will be very low in new building and nothing at night. So will use it more as a backup for existing house at night. Not the best or high tec solution, but given space and distance, this will need to do the trick.

Max distance for Parallel setup with Axpert MKS 5K
Thanks for the fast feedback Pilotfish. I have read so many difernt documnets on this. Si If I understand you correctly -- 2nd system should be stand alone and not have grid AC as backup. Only exsiting system will have the AC grid backup? Now how do I get to share the output of both systems if they are far apart?

single phase via 3 phase
I have the same problem and looking into Three-Phase VSD Solar Pump Controller MicroCare has one. You do need a VSD compatable drive. The other option I found was at www.fullcirclesolar.co.za -- They have one that runs on all moters. Down side is that they all need around 500V ( Lots of panels ) Still worth it as the Eskom pump point alone coasts me R1800 a month.

Max distance for Parallel setup with Axpert MKS 5K
I Have 1 Axpert MKS 5K system up and running. Thanks to the help from Chris Hodson and other memebers on this siste ( Thanks !!! ) All works great, but I need more power. I would like to add a second system, but from what I can see, if you parallel 2 systems single phase they need to be close to each other. I have another building being build – about 200 Meters away and would like to mount 2nd PV on the new roof for 2 reasons. A) more sunlight excising roof almost at max. Now the question is – How long can parallel cable be? If not possible, is it ok to install second as standalone connected to same AC feed as system one? Thanks !!

DC Circuit Breakers
Thanks all for the feedback and help. I found one at ACDC in Strand ( Cape Town ) They also have Fuse holders.

DC Circuit Breakers
My installation manual recommend a 60A DC circuit breaker between PV and MPPT. Where can I buy a true DC breaker as I understand this is not the same as a AC breaker?
