    Hi There, Sorry I might be a bit late for the subject, but if anyone else has this problem in the future, this is what I did: Disabled the COM port in Device Manager, rebooted the machine, then re-enabled the COM port in Device Manager. Opened the Battery View software again, and it worked I hope this helps!
