Wanted: 12.5Kw Felicity Battery ( 2-3 years old)
Hello Specifically model - LPBF48250 I'm looking at expanding, but don't want to mix old and new batteries as it puts strain and ages the system prematurely. If there is anybody out there looking to upgrade and have one bought around late 2022-2023, i'm open to buying it. The alternative would be to sell mine. I'll take one, but can be arm twisted for 2 if you have 2 that is similiar age! Mine is in excellent condition, daily used, 30% cutoff, and has been in flawless service since installation. Thanks!

Dyness battery setup --> Deye 8K inverter
I've managed to get this battery working with a LUX inverter and i can at least note that the cable that came with the battery was "old", and no longer compatable with the "current" version of the LUX inverter (they moved the 485 pins elsewhere on the rj45), so don't assume that because the cable is labeled that it should just work. I crimped my own cable to make it work, but it did actually work in th end. Mode 18 on the Lux The tip for the LUX was actually on this forum.

Hubble AM-2 cell welds coming loose, any others experienced this?
Good day! I finally found the time to take the battery back to Hubble, and after some discussion with the front desk, it was immediately escalated to the service manager. They had a talk and a decision was made on the spot to replace the entire cell pack with a new one. The battery will not travel to Cape Town, as it is a drop in replacement that can be done in Joburg. The latest loose weld is on cell 2 this time around according to their diagnostic tooling on RS232. Btw, Hubble is moving offices into a bigger building, and they are putting in their own welding station, which will significantly reduce the turn around time for repairs and or fixes, most if not all significant repairs have to road freight to Cape Town and back at the moment. The last 4 months have been this difficult, they clearly have some issues with QA/Training on repairs. But it looks like hanging on and sticking to the facts is hopefully resolving this. The BMS will be reprogrammed/trained on the new cells (i asked, and it is indeed new cells) so it looks like i am basically getting a capacity and cycle reset, and hopefully, with no weld issues. I'll post again when i get it back and run some tests. Cheers!

cloudy versus sunny, two strings, output deviation
I don't know how best to frame it, but if it has been answered, apologies, please point me to a post. I have 2 strings on a 8kw sunsynk Artsolar - 6 x 350 Watt - Mono - Full Black (They are the large square cells) Artsolar - 8 x 545Wp 144 Cell Mono Black (they look like half cells) They are mounted as two rows on the roof, identical orientations. I've noticed on cloudy days that when the illumination is low, their output is very close together, but on sunny days, they would be far apart. One would think that the one being more than twice as big that if the smaller string is doing 240W, the other would be doing 500W, but it is more like 240W/320W. I wouldn't normally nitpick, but it adds up and it is interesting. So i am interested in thoughts and ideas how that would happen, or if it is even a feature of the type of panel, the bigger panels being a different construction resulting in less efficiency in lower light? Running close together Almost double you can clearly see how they quickly deviate to twice as much as intensity changes during the day, but "squish" together when it is low. I've checked several days and it is about the general theme, that the 545W string is outputting less in similar (but low) light conditions than the other string in a non-linear fashion. Cheers!

I'm happy that i can drive in and give someone the battery and get support (which is why i bought the Hubble in the first place) but it is _-SuPeR-_ annoying that it is now working a month and broken a month alternating repeatedly after working fine for a year without any issues. It certainly can be a dud thing, and yes, any battery from any manufacturer can turn into a lemon just like cars, or any other product. i'll be treating it accordingly with Hubble support now as i clearly have something that needs a bit more attention than just a quick bench weld and off you go back to the customer (which should have happened the second time i sent it). Likely a full unpack, clean and repack, full re-weld of everything as new, or just give me another battery while you salvage that battery for whatever purposes (The cells are fine!). Which other product has a local manufacturer warranty with offices you can actually go and touch in your province? LBSA? The installer needs to sort it out i agree with but they can only do so much if they can't reach out for product support either and they are processing the warranty on your behalf. These things are heavy, bulky and expensive and you can't just carry sufficient stock of batteries as an installer that are compatible with every client you have installed in their specific environment, for their dimensions and capacities and still be expected to have a functioning business after a year unless your charging rates and support fees that most people won't even care to do business with you in any case then unless your entertaining the 1% for business exclusively. I'm now shit out of luck until end of January probably and even if i yell at an installer for an hour, what is he going to do, yell at Hubble, and then everybody just takes a beating down to the underpaid guy doing the welding which then throws a finger at the boss and walks out which then have to put a junior down there to get through their mountain of recalls because everybody keeps getting yelled at and then quit which means no experienced staff which results in QA being overwhelmed with subpar work, which leaks out the front door resulting in my poor battery acting like a lemon, the whole process just sounds "unhealthy". Enjoy xmas everybody.. i'll be braaing with no power likely.

Hubble AM-2 cell welds coming loose, any others experienced this?
Here we go again. Battery worked for a whole 3 weeks and again stopped working with a DC VoltLow fault yesterday afternoon. All lights on the battery staying on and then shutting down. This time around i'm not at home for 2 weeks, so i can't do anything about it but bypass the inverter, and it is xmas time so this is going to be crap.

City of Joburg - Switching to prepaid
Recently had a Hexing prepaid meter (HXE130) forced down on me (Tshwane). I set the inverter (Sunsynk 8kw) to 50W grid trickle before the install, no trips or hassles so far, probably going to trial 40W for a few weeks and then 30W and to see where it starts getting unstable. I can add that the "few units" that are preloaded when they install the meter is exactly 5KW, so you beter load some immediately. The installer was friendly and helped me with my banking app on how to proceed before he left even. My customer unit (CIU EV500) does work on the inverter load side without any issues. I understand some people have an issue where the customer unit cannot communicate through the inverter, at least mine didn't but from the manual it appears this unit have RF and PLC capability so it might be going via short-range RF?

I'm also on my own as i've been burned multiple times by fly by night electricians that is more interested in finding something easy to bill and then run than building a long term relationship. My house has lots of work that needs to be done, but it will take time, because i don't have infinite funds to fix everything at once. There is no problem taking in a battery by yourself as the warranty is for the battery. If it was a problem they would block selling it to anybody with a credit card. They can however tell if you did something wrong with it, like overcharging it, or tripped out the modules, temperature faults, that may void your battery. It has some smarts to make sure you didn't void the warranty by operating it in unsuitable conditions. Btw, my battery was ready for collection on Friday, and picked it up, put it back and have been running great, just in time for the Stage 4 stint. So far no problems, lets hope it holds!

Ah, ok thank you for that information. The battery seems to be 2021-08 Serial is HL2108, it is in the 400's. Since JHB seems to be phoning CPT anyway when i call for updates, and then phoning back (which is stupid and wastes time), i'm just going to phone CPT directly and get updates myself. Stephan gave me updates without even asking, because that is what you do when you take care of your customers. No news is much worse than bad news. Having to call around and drag information out of people is not cool. They have an excellent job tracking system, and it can easily be used to keep track of customer comms as well and trigger alerts when a customer do not received updates in a fair time frame. Just an SMS saying.. hey.. we did not forget about you, would have been nice. I believe the unit should have now exited the welding bay and should be around QA / Return shipping based on what i dug out on Monday. Hopefully i can have it back by Thursday/Friday and then we hold thumbs everything holds for the next 8 years.

I'm fortunately still under warranty so i'm not opening it, judging from the picture below i might be able to create a more robust connection with some specialised tooling, but i'll keep warranting it until i completely lose it. The battery failed the first time by basically not engaging once it was needed, load requirement would have been around 2KW max, i believe it was exactly 08:00 the morning. The other time was in the middle of a loadshedding at about 1.6KW load (everybody in front of the TV), 21:18. Both times the battery was cool to the touch, and ddin't smell stranger than usual, and didn't have any other faults reported that i could tell, other than they said the firmware was a little outdated (which they fixed the first time it was sent in). The battery is indoor, near an outside door, usually open and not experiencing temps higher than 25C, nor large differentials. Typically i would say a "dry joint", i don't know if it is a valid term for this failure, but, that this should happen over winter times where the battery would be under some kind of thermal range. First failure was early october and the second early november. I can't tell really anything specific that would have been different comparing against any other day that would be at odds of the operating conditions the battery is capable of. Sucks!

@P1000 Thank you for the picture! Is that the newer AM2 with the prismatics, or just a normal AM2, or a AM2v2? The previous failure was between 2-3-4, and 6-7, the new failure was 5-6. If anybody experiences this. The inverter basically DC_LowVoltage Faults, the battery doesn't "boot", the lights don't start blinking, all the lights stay on solid, and then eventually they all turn off. The inverter may report NO BATTERY, or indicate a very low voltage, such is below 40's. Multimetering the battery will also show a very low voltage (for a 48/53V battery). The tech did indicate that sometimes lightly knocking on the side of the battery may temporarily create a connection, mine however didn't, they tried both times while on diagnostics by basically rapping the side of the battery.

Good day Long time lurker, but something finally happened that is baffling/interesting. A few months ago, my AM2 (1 year old) suddenly stopped working and refused to start (measuring 18V). I took it to JHB, they plugged it in, and it immediately caused some "wow, come check this out" kind of response from the staff, as there were 3 of the cells measuring 0V. He mentioned something to the line of there is a alluminium conductor plate/bar that is robot welded, and that he personally does not like the alum-alum bonding, but netherless, they were helpful, booked the battery in, the only place it can be fixed is in CPT and 9 days later received it back. Very happy with the overall support experience (Thank you Stefan!). Fast forward a month after that and the battery died again, this time measuring 39V, same issue so i suspected the same problem. Cruised all the way to JHB, and this time only one of the cells are measuring 0V. So yet again the battery is shipped to CPT and unfortunately, this time, it has been almost a month and it is not back yet, and have not received any updates (Stefan resigned i think). I noticed a ton of booked in AM2's this time around behind the desk (like 20), so i started wondering, is this something more general? How does the reweld, if done by robot, make the other cell also lose connection a month later? Were all the cells not rewelded as a precaution? What is the QA process to make sure i don't have to drive to JHB every few months to reweld the connections? Is there anything i'm doing wrong? Are more batteries experiencing weld failures now? I love my battery, and i'm very close to buying a lot more capacity but i'm getting a bit nervous about this situation. Every day the battery is not in service i'm obviously losing money, and suffering load shedding, and it is getting a bit outragous!

Wanted: Hubble AM2
Afternoon Jay If your willing to wait till January, i'm replacing my loadshedding only AM2 to a bigger battery solution and it will become available. It is one year old, that cycle count looks about right, and it only saw deep drains twice during stage 6 load shedding. Typical discharge was only to about 50% usually. Highest drain ever was 92A, the typical drain was about 20-30A for 2-3 hours. Cheers
