  1. Thanks!
  2. Hi, I have a Sunsynk 5kw inverter and 5kw battery. 6 x 545w JA panels. I would like to add 2 x 545w panels to the existing string. If I can't get JA panels is it ok to add panels with similar specs from another manufacturer? Thanks
  3. Thanks - there will in fact be panels, but was only looking for ideas on inverter/battery. Thanks

Yes. But I should not have to do that. Looks like Synsyk is cutting corners Saving R80 on a R25k plus inverter seems pretty short sighted.
  5. Afternoon, Not sure if this is the right forum but .... I am looking for some suggestions for my Zimbabwean employee please, for installation in rural Zim! Price is clearly an issue. Requirements are for an inverter/battery to power some lights, TV and a fridge. So I would think that something like a 3 kw 24v inverter plus suitable battery would do the job?? What would your recommendation be? Items would be purchased in RSA. No Panels at this stage. Thanks

Yep, and they get damn hot. Mine has been up to 78.
  7. I am also concerned about the temperatures. Mine gets up to nearly 80!!! I can't believe this is good?? Seems a pity to have to install fans on a piece of kit that cost close to R30k!
  8. I think the problem here is actual total wattage. The specs indicate a total input of 6300w. I initially read this as per MPPT, but apparently this is across BOTH MPPTs. which is then 3250w per MPPT, which is 8 x 370w panels. 🤬
  9. Thank you. Yes I agree that I should balance between the two MPPTs. However I would then have 370w panels on each string, and as I understand it if I want to add panels later I would need to add 370w panels, as its not a good idea to mix different capacity panels on the same string.
  10. Afternoon, I have been quoted (year end "special" from a recognised installer) on a Sunsynk 5KW 1P HYBRID PV INVERTER 48C 5kw inverter plus 8 x 370w panels. I know these are not the latest and greatest panels but they come with the package. I want to add an extra 2 x 370w panels (Taking total to 10), but installer is now telling me that I need to start another string due to limitations of the inverter. I don't believe this is true. Specs attached: JAM60S21-370/MR panel open circuit voltage of 41.3V and Inverter SS-1P-5K-H-48V - PV Input Voltage 370V(100v - 500V). I don't want to start another string at this stage as I would prefer to keep MPPT2 free so that I can add different panels (say 455w) in the future. What are the experts opinion? Thanks! 380-Watt-Mono-Solar-Panels-Info-Sheet-1.pdf
  11. Morning, starting on this confusing journey! I am close to installing a 5kw Sunsynk with a 5kw Sunsynk battery, with about 3.7kw PV. I have asked the question below to various installers and get various answers. I want to split up my home items between: Essential: All lights and plugs inside the house Non-Essential: Swimming pool pump Oven Geyser So my question, which applies to when there is NO load-shedding.... Some installers lead me to believe that when your home items (essential and non-essential items) are switched on and use more than 5kw in total, then the inverter will trip? Others say no, that wouldn't happen, as the excess usage will be sourced from Eskom. So if you where to use for example a total of 7kw on your essential and non-essential items, 3kwh would theoretically be sourced from your solar panels, 3kw would theoretically be sourced from your battery but together it will be limited to 5kw due to inverter limitation being 5kw, and the remainder of 1kw will be sourced from Eskom? So which one is correct? Thanks!!
