  1.    zsde reacted to a post in a topic: Kool Energy / Mecer 1 / 2kW not charging to 100%
  2. I've been using my Lithium unit all day long, just now realised it was never plugged in. The battery percentage read 0% when I checked just now, not sure how long for, but it was still running. Just had my macbook and an external monitor plugged in, been running well over 9 hours now. What is the point of having a BMS with a battery charge level indicator if it doesn't even work?
  3. Ooh, that seems like a dangerous statement to make. Not everyone's issue is related to BMS. My battery was found to be faulty and replaced. Also a complete discharge will fix this? Surely only on lithium units, any other battery type will be damaged by a full discharge, not so? If you run gel or lead acid you need to know your depth of discharge, otherwise you will severely damage the battery.
  4. On my fourth day using my unit the the supposed replaced battery. Still working, still charging back to 100%, but it's early days, it took a couple of weeks for my first one to start showing symptoms. We're on those 4 hour stretches of loadshedding now, so it will really be tested over the next couple of days. So far, so good. I've decide to live with the scuff marks and scratches, I can't send it back and be without it any longer.
  5. I got mine back today. Dirty and has scuff marks now it previously did not have, the warranty void sticker has been cut and not been replaced. Haven't used it yet. Will revert once I have tested it a little.
  6. Been almost two and half weeks now waiting for a shipment of batteries from China. There's a 10% chance I can get mine back this week with a replaced battery. Fair warning to anyone wanting to buy a Kool Energy 1kw Lithium inverter. Read this entire thread before doing so.
  7. Update on my unit. It's confirmed that my battery is the culprit. My supplier says they are waiting on a shipment of new units and batteries from China. ETA somewhere within the next two weeks. They'll replace my battery before the unit is returned to me.
  8. No. You know how it goes, everyone is always quick to take your cash, after that there is no rush to help you. Still awaiting feedback. It's been a week.
  9. Just an update, I heard from the guy I bought my inverter from, the supplier is busy testing my unit, but suspect a faulty battery so far. If they confirm it is, they will replace the battery. Still waiting to hear the final diagnosis, but so far, this is more than I expected to be honest.
  10. @Craig Dyer same thing happened to me, I've had mine for a month, for a while it would not go to 100% and one day it did, after that it was just downhill from there. Don't get too happy about it charging to full, if you have the opportunity to send it back, rather do so, you can see on this thread how many people are having the same issue. I'm almost convinced when I get mine back the problem will still persist.
  11. Mine was sent back today. I'm also not expecting much to happen in terms of an actual repair. The mere fact that there are so many of us who are having the exact same issue means there is something wrong. I paid a LOT of money for my Kool Energy Lithium unit, I'm going to give them hell until I get a satisfactory answer.
  12. I'm starting to regret buying the Kool energy inverter. I just got off the phone with a supposed technician from Kool Energy who said I need to bring it in to get checked. So now not only will I be without any inverter for the next couple of days, these guys are probably just going to remove the batteries charge them external from the unit and then hand it back to me hoping I go away. That's what I think is going to happen. Warning for anyone else, don't buy Kool Energey Lithium units.
  13. Same problem here. I have the exact same unit as @Carlavdw The past week, after loadshedding it does not recharge to full capacity. After every loadshedding it drops about 2% in charge and just stays there whilst the unit shows that it's busy recharging. The unit does not have very many options in the little display. As usual, the agent whom I bought it from was quick to take my money, but after sales service is, well, less than desirable. I am still waiting for a follow-up after contacting one of the technicians the sales agent pointed me towards. My unit is about a month old and started acting this way after about two weeks.
