Weimaraner got a reaction from TimCam in Lightning DamageYes, my insurance covers the damage. I did the install in 2023 and it was running clockwork till the heavens decided otherwise. PITA to remove the batteries and inverter for repairs but I took the inverter out today - will take it to Sunsynk in the morning. It seems the comms are not working. I will report back. I am learning a lot through this exercise.

Weimaraner got a reaction from TimCam in Lightning DamageI agree with you 100% and that is what I am going to do.

Weimaraner got a reaction from zsde in I took the plunge...12kw Sunsynk 3ph + 3 Hubble AM5's + RIOT Cloudlink + waiting for the panels!System runs fine. I am busy at work so I still have to install the panels (16 * 545). I have installed the brackets and rails on the roof (what a pain) and I have run two strings of 6mmsq PV wire (another pain). Also still have to install the Cloudlink. So for now I have a glorified UPS but it works perfectly. I run the whole house and the 12kw + 15kwh of batteries is enough. We obviously are careful with what we run together and so far no issues, even the geyser is on. It will be another story with the panels up and I will run another set of 3ph 16mm cable to the DB for non-essential items. Will update and post once I am done. In hindsight I am thinking that 2 * 8kw would be a better option than 1 * 12kw but it was fun doing it and it works! Very happy with the inverter and the batteries.

Weimaraner got a reaction from HiTech in SunSynk 12kW, Hubble AM2’s, Cloudlink (RIOT) and JA 460 PanelsNo, they do sell it, I recently ordered and they delivered the same day, mail this person Teffo, Peter <[email protected]>

Weimaraner got a reaction from HiTech in SunSynk 12kW, Hubble AM2’s, Cloudlink (RIOT) and JA 460 PanelsAbsolutely love the install and I have copied it! Thanks HiTech! I would like to know what Hager contactor you used (model no) and also where you found the grey conduit and fittings. Thanks!

Weimaraner got a reaction from TestTube in I took the plunge...12kw Sunsynk 3ph + 3 Hubble AM5's + RIOT Cloudlink + waiting for the panels! There is a cheaper alternative - check out the Electromechanica website for this 080110-0-4 100A MAIN TERMINAL GREY. You get them in different ratings and cable sizes.
https://www.em.co.za/080110-0-4
But order online through online electrical, prices are good.

Been a long time coming with numerous different designs and options having been investigated and finally had enough of load shedding and ‘tripping’ power stations (not to mention the loss to fires). First things first, thanks to this forum and those behind the scenes for some extraordinary information, guidance and confirmation on many unknown aspects, following which I thought it only fit to share the outcome on the showcase.
Planned to accommodate a 3-Phase environment, with average daily use of up to 55.67kWh, with numerous obstacles, such as 3DB’s in the house, the main enclosure located in the scullery and wanting/having to install the solar solution in the garage (based on size). This required some planning on getting the Grid to the garage and the Load to the scullery.
3 Geysers in the house, already managed by Geyserwise Max units, thus could add their own solar plants, however opted to just use the timers and temp control for now and try and centralise everything to one generation source and avoid having to manage multiple plants.
DIY install, thus will progress as time permits and as the accessories are gathered, down to the ferrules.
Solution: 1 x 12kW SunSynk, 4 x Hubble AM2, Hubble Cloudlink, 18 x JA460 PV – 3 strings(6), 3-string DC Combiner, JM Keto-1 240A isolator.

Weimaraner got a reaction from Yellow Measure in I took the plunge...12kw Sunsynk 3ph + 3 Hubble AM5's + RIOT Cloudlink + waiting for the panels! The Sunsynk 12kw 3ph has a max DC charge/discharge current of 240A hence he 240A and the 70mm. The "mash" idea sounds like a plan, I will see if I can make a plan. Just to avoid misunderstanding, I am not trimming the strands. The cable and lug goes together perfectly. The actual lug does not quite fit into the battery terminal.

Weimaraner got a reaction from Yellow Measure in I took the plunge...12kw Sunsynk 3ph + 3 Hubble AM5's + RIOT Cloudlink + waiting for the panels!Firstly thanks to Everyone on this forum, I have learnt a lot by browsing the different posts. I am doing a DIY so it will take long. I am less patient as I get older but I have learnt that a rush-job is not the best way. I will rather take time, learn and try my best to do it properly. The inverter and batteries are up, comms cables in, next is battery cables and then the AC side. Wiring with 16mmsq which makes it a bit harder. I need to see what I do on the DB - I need to split away underfloor heating and a couple of other things. I have a Solahart solar geyser on a timer so not that worried about the geyser. Waiting on the panels 16 x 545w CS'. I will build my own AC DB, already have SPD's etc in an enclosure close by. For the N-E bond I will just use a contactor. Does anyone know where I can buy black conduit fitting and dark grey flex conduit?
