Hey everyone. I currently have a 2 solar panel, 3.5 KV FiveStar hybrid Inverter connected to 2 x 120ah gel batteries but they are starting to degrade. I want to replace them with 2 x 200ah gel batteries (getting them at a very good price and I know I should buy a Lithium). My question is, should I need to change any settings on the inverter or can I just swap the batteries out. They are all 12V gels. Thanks.

Should I switch off all the main circuit breakers (Panels to Inverter, Inverter main DB and Breaker to the batteries)? What happens to the energy generated by the panels? Will it not damage the panels?

Hi Guys, please can you advise on what to do with my solar system when going away from home. It is a 3,5KV with 2x490w panels and 2x120ah gel batteries. It runs completely off the grid and I will not have anything connected to it during this time.. I will be away for about 6 weeks. Thanks.

Great. Will have to get one. I tried registering for the SmartESS software on their website, but it's for some reason not accepting the code (first question on the registration page). I tried model number, everything, no luck.

Cool, how do you link your phone to the inverter? It doesn't have wifi.

Yeah it is exactly the same as if you're connected to DB (same power source I mean) I am thinking to remove the earth wire and just run the N and Live. Not sure what you mean by "live stripped out for CT clamp"

So the inverter runs at most on a 30% load. The panels supply enough so it will be just for an emergency top up when the batteries are about to run out. The solar has earth leakage and earth wire to the ground with a copper rod.

Keep in mind the solar system runs completely separate from the grid. There's absolutely no connection between the two.

Hi everyone. So I have an interesting question. I have a 3kv inverter that runs a few few plugs completely seperate from Eskom. Power comes from 2 x solar panels and feeds 2 x 120ah batteries. It's running as expected with no issues. Can I use the AC in on the inverter, connect it to a 3pin plug and plug it into a plug point that is on eskom power? I saw a guy in America that does this with his installations.

What software do you use for your Fivestar inverter?

Not sure what best practice is with regards to solar. I though it might be not as hard on the batteries.

2 panels, 390w each and using 2 x 120ah gel batteries. No light switches, so lights will be permanently on.

I also have a Fivestar inverter, and I installed the Watchpower software. I use the USB cable (printer cable). Make sure that the agent runs before you open the software. In the taskbar, you will see a little green icon, right click on it and click on Start.

Can I just leave it running, or is there a setting where I can lower the charging rate so it trickle charge the batteries for that time? I can only find "solar charge current ratio" in the settings menu. Not sure if this is the correct one. Thanks.

Hi everyone. Is there a generic software that is available for monitoring your inverter? The software included in the Fivestar inverter package are pretty useless. The inverter does not have wifi functionality. I am using the Usb port. Thanks.

I connected the E and N (from bar to bar) just with a wire and all the readings show 100%. Nothing is tripping. Can I leave the wire in permanently or must I replace it with the connector?
