  1. I have a CBI wifi geyser smart switch and 3 plug in smart sockets on the SmartLife app and a TBB power inverter/battery setup. Currently the respective smart switches switch equipment on and off according to different schedules. However, I would also like to switch them off during loadshedding and back on afterwards automatically. I have setup a Tap & Run action which switches all four off, but I cannot figure out how to setup an automatic switch on action after the 2.5hr loadshedding. I would like to retain the current scheduled on/off actions on the switches. Any ideas?

I have installed the Tuya 16A Smart Switch with temperature and humidity sensor Smart WiFi Temperature & Humidity Switch | Grow Tents or Nursery (tuya-smarthome.co.za) This currently works well for my needs. Please note that it is rated at 16A which means the geyser element should not exceed 3kw (preferably 2kw). Also note that the sensor is rated to a maximum of 55C (Sonoff sensor to 50C). I believe the most reliable option is the Geyserwise Tuya module Geyserwise TSE1 Tuya Smart WiFi Module Geyser Controller Kit | LiveStainable which replaces the thermostat and can carry 3kw elements.
  3. I have moved the temperature/ humidity sensor to the outlet pipe as it leaves the geyser, and what a difference it makes. Now I am measuring water temperature as we use it. I already have a 50mm green wool geyser blanket but have covered this with a kwikot silver geyser blanket as well. I have also insulated water pipes too and from the geyser as well as the sensor on the pipe. Now I have minimal heatloss (about 0.7C/hour) Thanks for the advice

  5. I recently connected a Tuya 16A Smart Switch with temperature and humidity sensor to my 150L kwikot geyser (1.5kw PTC element) which is situated in my roof and is covered by a geyser blanket. The sensor is taped against the nut of the PTC element. I have find that after heating the water (to 55⁰C) the temperature drops by 20⁰C within 2 hours and then cools off more slowly thereafter. This seems excessive given that a geyser blanket is in place. What is the expected temperature loss of a geyser? Is the placement of the sensor possibly resulting in quicker temperature drop than inside the geyser?
  6. I don't understand how the batteries can feed power to the oven if it is a non essential load, ie not connected to the Load or Aux output of the inverter. Mine is connected like that and oven is only feed by grid or solar. When grid is down oven is dead. Must be a setting somewhere.
