Thanks will do - i do think that during the midday it does continue charging when you use the battery - it'll take a hit and then continue when the load stops... but I'll have a go.

Easier said than done, I expect a narrower charge window in winter - but still perplexing that I can literally see plus 1400watts to power the microwave (for example) and then 2 minutes later, what no charge available for the battery?

Hi all Sorry if this was asked in the forum (but not sure how to search the topic). I have a 5kw system with 12 panels, 5kw battery - system works flawlessy - i just wanted some clarification. So the panels is enough for load and charging battery, what happens is in the early evening, the battery would be sitting at 100% - great. Wife would start the cooking (airfryer, microwave) nanny would be cleaning up before she leaves (so vacuum and ironing) - panels powering all appliances. By the time all is said and done - battery would be at +- 97%, but the panels will not charge the battery back up to 100% (even though I just saw how they powered everything else) so there is still enough sun to give it a good charge - Anyone have this issue, or how to resolve it, or is it just a quirk.... Hi I recently added panels to my inverter and battery that was running as a UPS, the 1st installer went bust, so I needed another installer to add panels - which they have, they have also made my system compliant where possible. Now I need to do my SSEG registration, but since the 1st installer no longer exists, and the 2nd installer just added panels (they advised that I do this myself - is this achievable). 2nd - i live in Cape Town, and have since received a notice to fit a new meter - my house is old, so I am still on the analog (spinning disk) system, I can confirm that the system does not feed in to the grid - it has been running now for a few months. 1stly can I do the SSEG registration myself (and how hard is this) or are there ppl who can do this for me. 2ndly - do I have to replace my meter, usually I just log into eservices and submit a picture of my meter and it's been like that for 15yrs already). Yeah but then wouldn't you need some sort of jig that you can adjust for each season... my roof is a low incline... 20 - 25degrees if that.

Its a Greenrich WM5000, we use the airfryer the most, stove is Gas and oven never used. Coffee and tea is on gas. My plan is to get another battery, but i want to get the panels sized to charge both batteries and give me usable power throughout the day.

Yeah in winter we use about 600kwh in peak winter.

Every 2nd friday - as we have the domestic in, so she goes boss with appliances, evening usage is relatively the same throughout...

I'd then probably end up with 1 east string and 1 west string... that way i can get early morning generation as well as afternoon/evening generation.

So even a west facing setup will be better compared to flat roof.

My only issue is that i do not have a north facing roof...so do i please the panels on a split west/east or on my pergola roof which is flat?

I ideally want 12 panels that way my system won't struggle in Winter... but I'll run this by them, alternatively i can always fit the other 2 panels at a later stage.

Thanks for the feedback....we a relatively low usage household, peak winter is about 600kw per month... and like you said...i can add panels when i add another battery (next year worries). Will post here with updates.

Hi everyone So for the past 6 months i have been using a SS5kw/5Kw Greenrich battery to run as a UPS for the house. Time has come to add panels to this... and chatting a company they advised that i can/should run 10 x 550kw panels... (and tbisnis the max recommended for the inverter) Right now the ONLY 2 things that are not on the essential side is pool pump/geyser... everything else runs on the "UPS", we manage the loads during load shedding...but with panels that becomes easier. My question is, i have searched forums and seen homes all with like 12 - 16panels on their roof with a 5kw system and here i am being quoted for 10panels, bearing in mind, I'll probably get another battery down the line, so i am hoping to future proof myself with panels. Any help, advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the advise...it seems to have sorted the issue. Will send a log later today once everything is normalized

I have since changed it as per P1000 recommendations... and it seems that everything is "normalized" Voltage is up charge is holding - so far And set to charge 100% and I'll schedule it to discharge to keep cells happy.
