I have a complete solar installation in addition to the Geyserwise. If I do use extra electricity for my geyser, which very seldom happens, I get that from my solar installation.

I also had it installed with 2 dedicated 540 watt panels about 14 months ago. I always have hot water - even in winter.

In a normal installation, you have two types of connections. One side is the essential side (the side that needs power when Eskom is down) or UPS and the other side is your non-essential side (the side that does not need power when Eskom is down) Things like stoves, geysers and air conditioners are usually connected to the non-essential side because they draw too much power and would deplete your batteries in the case of a power failure.

Well, judging from the overwhelming reaction on this post, I have to assume that I am the only one with this problem. Still waiting for Sunsynk to resolve it and my guess is that it will never be fixed. Hope I do not need repairs to my inverter. It would be a bummer if I get the same type of support from Sunsynk then.

I have a peculiar problem that Sunsynk support does not seem to be able to sort out and maybe someone on this forum has ideas on how it can be resolved. About 4 weeks ago my Sunsynk app stopped working. I was still able to log in to a working display of my inverter performance on my desktop using a saved url. However, if I try to log in on my laptop I have the same problem as on the app. There is no gateway or inverter attached to my profile. I also cannot attach a gateway as the app reports an error to the effect that such a gateway is already used. When I look at the plant list I can see from the URL that my desktop computer is looking at a different record (they have a number at the end of the URL). It therefore appears that I have two profiles under the same username and password and only one works. If have lodged many queries with Sunsynk support and while they promise to fix it within 24 hours, they never do. Anybody else with this problem or ideas on how I can get this fixed?

Som of the older spinning disk meters will run backwards but only until the second to last digit reaches 0. Thereafter it sticks to 0 while the last digit keeps on running backwards.

I cannot see why not. As long as the output of your generator is stable and stays within the correct voltage and frequency parameters, you should not have a problem.

I use a 3kw Honda inverter generator and I have no problem connecting it to my 5kw Sunsynk. I just tell the Sunsynk not to take more than 2kw from the generator.

As someone who provides technical solutions to end users, I can tell you that it is the suppliers' duty to design their product in such a way that end users cannot cause repair issues. Technical solutions should not require specialist knowledge from users - especially if that product is a general consumer unit such as an inverter.

Have you looked at the possibility that that your battery SOC was below the Restart level. I do not know Goodwe inverters but on my Sunsynk you set a Shutdown level (in my case 20%) and a Restart level (in my case 26%). Should the inverter shut down because of a low battery, it will either need PV or grid power to bring the battery back up to 26 percent before it will start up again.

Thanks. I have increased the max voltage to 256 v and everything works well now.

Since the power was restored to my area after the collapse of the electricity pylons in Pretoria, the voltage has been very high - sometimes as high as 254.8 V. My Sunsynk is set to reject any voltages from the grid above 250 V with the result that I run almost exclusively on batteries and solar. This causes problems because my system was not designed for that. What grid voltages can a Sunsynk inverter handle. Can I increase my maximum grid voltage to as high as 256 V ?
