Lithium Battery Kick Start
Thank you for the reply... I am not quite in the seat to buy a R3K charger right now though... What is it about Lithium Ion charging that we need to have? Does it have a special kind of charging that I am not understanding? Am I ignorant thinking Voltage is voltage? 🙂 Also remember that I really just want to kick start my BMS - Actual charging will always happen from the Mecer Inverter (which I neglected to mention my apologies)

Lithium Battery Kick Start
Hello Peeps! I hope you are all well! My Battery is completely discharged and will not power up (I have no solar panels and forgot to plug it back in) I believe its below 1V and the BMS is off I need to switch it back on and after a bit of research I bought specifically a charger from Takealot that I can manually switch to 24V and set the Amps. I am able to set both Volts & Amps on this guy: Description Allows charging of 6 volts, 12 volts, and 24-volt batteries. The output current is stable and ensures the correct charging process. After charging the battery it automatically switches to voltage maintenance. If during charging the permissible current is exceeded or if a short circuit occurs, the installed protection works and disconnects the battery from the rectifier. The high current of 50A allows fast and reliable charging of each battery The small size allows you to put the charger in the car to always have it at hand. The comfortable handle makes it easy to carry the device. Feature : 6V / 12V / 24V universal, automatic recognition switch Manual automatic smart repair Charge stops automatically after a full charge Sixfold protection, reverse polarity protection, overheat protection, short circuit protection, low voltage protection, overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection Five-step pulse recovery, no-load mode, constant current mode, constant pressure mode, float charge mode, turbulence mode Stainless steel shell, anti-corrosion and anti-rust Size battery universal The anodized copper plating process Efficient heat dissipation, energy-saving protection Description : Plug Type: 2-Pin Plug Input parameters: 210V - 230V Output parameters: 6V / 12V / 24V Output line: 60cm pure copper wire Scope of use: Suitable for batteries below 100AH What's in the box 1 x 6V / 12V / 24V Battery Charger 50AMP 50A Electric Power Charging My Battery Esener 25.6V - ES25.6V100Ah Manual with all Specs I have read horror stories about people causing fireworks jump starting Lithium ion batteries and before I even try charging this I need professional advice please. Esener reckons to charge it at 24V DC - Current keep 5A - Not much else was said except I need to bring the battery in! (really not sure how that would help me get more advice) but anyway.... Pretty please give me a Pro opinion - I currently don't have another R13K for a battery and I really don't want to burn the house down! 🫣 EDIT: I merely want to start my battery and ongoing charging will always happen from my Meccer Inverter.

3Kva Power Backup Trolley
Hey @Wimmas, thank you for replying, I am on LiteGlo as we speak and will get the Fuses and disconnecters from them. I see they have a 100A on the transparent cover but the product states 160A https://www.liteglo.co.za/shop/onesto-fsd00-160-1-1-pole-160amp-fuse-switch-disconnector/# Ok so from what I understand, is build the system exactly like yours but I will hold on for a reply from you on the additional 2P's yeah? Or do you think you may not get a reply there? I have "borrowed" your schematic, I hope you don't mind... Married your Text with the drawing and could I ask of you you to just look at it and see if I have done ok? Did you end up on the 63A / 25A RCB you installed? Will you please also let me know where you got that if what you used is the 25A? I am not going to always run small loads as I am using the system for workshop tools so I would like to build it as safe as possible 🙂 Alrighty I will also in the meantime try and ask some people in the industry and If I come right I will always circle back and let you know mate. Thanks again for replying, I value that!

3Kva Power Backup Trolley
Hey People! I am not sure if I posted my questions on a dead post so I am opening a new Topic of my own. I would really apprecaite help on this : Also including my questions here : Good morning Peeps! Great job! I want to do exactly what @Wimmas achieved and have a few questions. My Mecer Axpert doesn't have an earth wire outof the AC Out side, so how would I do this part? I am attaching a photo of it... It has another earth screw on the body of the Inverter though, not sure if that is the same as one with the AC Out. Also @Wimmas where did you buy the DC Fuse goodies if you dont mind please?

Inverter to run Power Tools
Hi Scorp, yes I am indeed considering the Esener rather than Gel, hence trying to find out all I can about it 🙂 Thanks so much you guys have helped me tremendously!

Inverter to run Power Tools
Thank you, I wasn't really trying to figure what is best between Esener & Hubble but more to find out what I can use for the budget I have. You have helped me and thanks again.

Inverter to run Power Tools
Hey GMAC, thank you. Is there any advantage of rather doing 2 or 4 Batteries opposed to 1 x 25V at all? Also let me try ask all my questions in the same post....Given my situation that I actually need to run Power Tools on the Battery, would there be a disadvantage with the the Esener? Does it have the same power as 2 x Hubble etc...?

Inverter to run Power Tools
Hi GMAC, I've been pondering your 4 x Gel mention and looking at Gels that cost around R2.5k each. Compared to Lithium this is a 10K saving wich is a lot. I guess it comes with the big BUT...? Would you say the Gel batteries will give us around 1000 cycles in the end or not even close? Also would the 3kv Meccer take 4 x Gels? Lastly why 2S / 2P? Would that still give us 24V in the end? I am not sure how to even do a S/P bank! 😃

Inverter to run Power Tools
Hey Scorp, So to make 100% sure this is what I am going for : https://www.geewiz.co.za/hubble-lithium-batteries/153798-hubble-s-100a-12kwh-12v-100ah-lithium-ion-lifepo4-battery-first-life-cells.html https://www.geewiz.co.za/mecer-inverters/22813-mecer-axpert-3000va3000w-24v-pure-sine-wave-solar-invertercharger-1200w-pwm.html On the Battery though they state : NB - Please ensure you can set your inverter CUT OFF voltage to 11.2V, else the BMS will cut off and the battery will go dead (and will need to be jumped) This means that you can only use this battery in Mecer 1200VA/2400VA type inverters if you are sure you wont drain the battery all the way down. We however recommend using this battery ONLY with an inverter that is able to set cut off to 11V or more. Does your Mecer Axpert 3000VA/3000W 24V have this function to set the Voltage to 11V or more? The Manual speaks about Low DC Cut-off but ey what do I know... LOL

Inverter to run Power Tools
Ok amazing! Absolutely mate... good chargers are close to an aditional 2k as I am sure you would know. So say 2 x 12V batteries, how long would they take to charge? Im looking at the ones you use as I would rather buy what you suggest

Inverter to run Power Tools
Ok awesome! This helps me and thank you so much. Lastly... sorry to ask so many newb questions. What kindof charger would you recommend? I unfortunately cant install panels here so will have to charge on the lovely grid 😜 Or is it a case where that Inverter has a charger but I cant use it because I have no panels...? I would imagine your 2 x 12Volts are in series to double up the Voltage as the Inverter needs 24V?

Inverter to run Power Tools
Hello People! I am hoping to get some advice on what to buy > Inverter & Battery please. This is what I need to run on an Inverter : 2 x 550W 220V 1 x 710W Router (3.2A) These will never run at the same time. I have a CNC machine and I am fearful to just buy an Inverter and then it can't run my machine. The machine has a 710W Palm Router & 3 Stepper Motors. I doubt the stepper motors would be of any concern as they are small and run off the small computer box that drives the machine. I did some research and people say it is sometimes a problem with the inrush surge on Induction motors on the Inverters... Do you think I will be ok with a 3kw Inverter? Considering that there is a 2 x Wattage surge at startup that gives me 1420w and I plan to get a 3kw Inverter (3000w) Some people online say an induction motor can spike up to 7 x its wattage but I am not sure this little palm router will do that...? Basically I need to buy an Inverter that we will be good running the above. The 2 x 550w motors would be nice to run but not essential while there is Loadshedding. What is your best suggestion please? Is the 3kw Mecer with a good Battery an option? Is there a Trolley backup system out there that can run this? I can't install this and I can't put Panels on our rental roof so I am happy just charging a Battery and using this guy while Loadshedding happens.
