Five Star Inverter Compatibility
Hi Madness za That's how I also know it but now to find the same inverters is causing me headache.

Five Star Inverter Compatibility
Good day everyone. I currently have 2 x 8kVA Five Star inverters connected in parallel. I want to add a 3rd but struggle to find the same inverter model. Will I be able to add another Five Star 8kva inverter in parallel with the current 2 if the models differ? See pics.

AC Distribution Box Wiring
Good morning, Everyone I will be connecting 3 x 8000kVA Single Phase Inverters in parallel. The system is totally off grid. What would be the best way to combine the 3 ac outputs into 1 supply to the main DB EL? I bought 16mm2 cable, so wiring size shouldn't be a problem.

Cable size from inverters to DB
Hi frivan Thanks for the info. I will be using a 63A EL. House is already off grid so no supply from utility to inverters. I was also looking at 16mm2 cable, but they are costly. Maybe someone know where in SA I can buy a 20m cable.

Cable size from inverters to DB
Good evening, Everyone I'm planning to connect a 3rd Fivestar 8kVA inverter in parallel. I need to know my wire size from the 3 inverters to my EL in my Main DB. Can I run a 6mm2 cable for each inverter from there AC Breakers to the Main EL or does it need to be only 1 cable of a certain size? Need some clarity please

PV Combiner Box Melted
Hi Everyone Thanks for all the good advise. It's been 4 days after I installed the new combiner box. Have been checking the temp with my thermal gun as wel. All wires and breakers ice cold and I've been running my whole house off the solar except for the gas stove. I will wait a few more days and then re tighten everything again.

PV Combiner Box Melted
Good evening I have double checked the new box for loose connections. Old box was definitely DC breakers, same with new one. 40A each. Unfortunately, no photos of old one. Current was about 12.5A from each string and 325V.

PV Combiner Box Melted
Hello everyone. 20 March was a bad day for me as we almost had a fire started in the house. I installed my solar setup about 3months ago. It worked fine until yesterday my wife started smelling plastic burning. She rushed to the inverters and found smoke coming from the PV Combiner Box. Immediately she switched off everything until I got home from work. After investigating, I found the Surge Protectors, plastic covers melted. I rushed to town and bought a new Solar Wise Metal Case PV Combiner Box. Much steadier and really of decent quality. I just can't imagine what would have happen if nobody was home. Any suggestions why this could have happened? First pic is the melted plastic box and the other 2 the new box.

Pool Pump Overheating on Inverter Power
Hi They are 2 x Fivestar 8kVA Inverters

Pool Pump Overheating on Inverter Power
Seems to me that's exactly what's happening now.

Pool Pump Overheating on Inverter Power
Hi Everyone I moved my Aqua Max 600W pool pump onto my inverter power. Now it runs for about 15mins then shuts off. Motor very hot. First, I thought it was the pump, so i got a new one. Same problem. I have 2 x 6kW Inverters in parallel with 6 x 5.12kW batteries and 16 x 550W panels. It should be more than enough power to run a 600W pump. It only started after I connected it to solar power. Any advise

Off grid earthing
I almost forgot to ask. What is the standard if you want to route your solar panel wiring through the roof and then out underneath tiles down outside wall to earth rod?

Off grid earthing
Hi everyone I'm currently in the process of going off grid. I have a few concerns about the earthing and the earth/neutral bond. My panels are earthed directly to a copper earth rod in the ground. 1) Can I still use Eskom's earthing rod going into my DB as this earth is still the best you will get? If not, what must I do? Currently all my ac earths are connected to earth rod in main DB. 2)Can I feed a 6mm wire from main DB earth rod to my inverter? 3) Where and how will I do my permanent earth/neutral bond once the prepaid meter is removed and fuses pulled from mini sub? Oh! Please try and explain in away that a stupid diy guy lime myself can understand.

Busbar Sizes
If I understand correctly, I'll be fine with 250A busbars. Awesome. Thanks guys, much appreciated.

Greglsh I'm not 100% sure. Never tested it. Currently I only have 2 batteries connected. Should have the other 4 early next week.- Busbar Sizes
Good day Everyone I need some help with busbar sizes. I need to connect 5 x 5.12kW lithium batteries in parallel and then connect them to 2 x Disconnect Switches. What amp rating busbar will I need to bring all batteries cables together. Regards Lourens- Solar Install COC
Good day Everyone I'm looking for someone to inspect, test and issue a COC for my solar install. I do have a COC for the electricity. I'm located between Middelburg and Hendrina. Any info welcome.- Amount of panels per inverter
Thanks GreenFields I will take a look at the current amperage input to the inverters from the 5 panels. That will give me an indication of what the currents will be if I go parallel. I'll be fine as long as I play it safe at around 80A- Amount of panels per inverter
Good day Everyone I currently have 2 x Fivestar 8kVA inverters is parallel connected to 2 strings of 5 x 550W JA Panels. I want to add panels but also want to try and keep them in series. The question is, how many 550W panels can I connect to each inverter in series? Below are the specs for both inverters and panels.- Fivestar 8kVA inverter trip
I think I got the problem sorted this afternoon. The BLC Setting is not mentioned in the manual. It was set at 20A. I set it up to 50A, and voila. Everything works. Seems like it comes factory at 20A. Not sure what the correct setting should be. Thanks for all your help. Much appreciated.- Fivestar 8kVA inverter trip
Coulomb Do you perhaps have a diagram for the BMS communication between the Fivestar inverters and the Ecco batteries? The dip switches are set like this: Master batt - 1up rest down and slave is 1down2up3down4down. Is this correct?- Fivestar 8kVA inverter trip
I will take some pics of the booklet showing the codes this afternoon as well as the battery system cables etc. Batteries (2 x 5.12KW lithium parallel connected) are fully charged and sitting at 56.7 Volts each. Battery cables are 35mm2. Attach is how I connected them. Cables same length. Unfortunately, I'm not too clued up with inverters and Iive in a remote area so not a lot of installers are prepared to come and check. So, I'm stuck with me, myself and I to figure this out.- Fivestar 8kVA inverter trip
Hey Coulomb The booklet that came with this inverter states is a "Soft Start Fail". It literally trips 2 seconds after starting a microwave or kettle. The fridges, washing machine etc works fine and it only happens in battery mode. I just cannot believe that both inverters failed at the same time.- Fivestar 8kVA inverter trip
Good day everyone. I'm Lourens and I'm new to this forum. I need some advice if possible. I have 2 x Fivestar 8kVA inverters connected in parallel with 2 x 5.12kW lithium batteries also connected in parallel. When on battery power and I switch on a kettle or microwave, both inverters will trip simultaneously after 2 seconds giving me error code 08. When on AC power, no trips occur. Any advise would be much appreciated. - Busbar Sizes
