  1. Hi everyone, I’m currently using a Maxpower PV5000Pro inverter system and facing a couple of confusing and frustrating issues that I’m hoping someone here might be able to help me with. The system was installed by a technician, and the software version currently running on the inverter is: 5kPro latest VM TWIN_60.76 Below are the two main issues I’m struggling with: šŸ”§ Issue 1: Inverter Not Sharing Load Between Solar and Grid (in SUB Mode) • I have set the Output Source Priority to SUB mode, which means: Solar → Utility → Battery This setting should prioritize solar power first. If solar is not enough, then it should use the grid (utility), and finally the battery. • However, the actual behavior is very different: • Even when solar is producing full power (e.g., during peak sunlight), as soon as I enable the grid connection, the inverter completely stops using solar. • It transfers all the load directly to the grid — no matter if it's peak solar hours or if I have sufficient solar power. • This completely defeats the purpose of using solar energy efficiently. It also increases my electricity bill unnecessarily. • I have tested this multiple times under different conditions, but the problem remains. āš ļø Issue 2: APL Mode Does Not Work as Expected • The inverter allows switching between two AC input modes: 1. UPS Mode – Usually meant for sensitive electronic devices, with a narrow voltage input range. 2. APL Mode – Should allow a wider input voltage range, and should be more tolerant of low/high voltages. • The problem is: • Whether I set it to UPS or APL, the inverter switches to battery mode as soon as the grid voltage drops below 170V. • In my understanding, APL mode is supposed to continue using grid power even at lower voltages (maybe down to 90V or 100V), but that is not happening. • So, in areas with weak or fluctuating voltage (like mine), the inverter keeps switching unnecessarily to battery mode, which is not ideal. ā“ My Questions: 1. Is this kind of behavior normal for the Maxpower PV5000Pro? 2. Is this possibly a firmware/software issue with version VM TWIN_60.76? 3. Has anyone faced a similar issue with SUB mode not prioritizing solar? 4. How can I make the inverter properly share load between solar and grid instead of shifting everything to the grid? 5. Why is APL mode not behaving differently from UPS mode? Is there a fix or setting I’m missing? 6. Would downgrading/upgrading the firmware help? Any help, suggestions, or shared experiences would be extremely appreciated. I’m trying to make the most of my solar setup, and these issues are really limiting its efficiency. Thanks in advance to everyone!
