  1. Thanks. I have mine set up exactly like that now, at 40% across the board. the installation of my inverter was recently installed, so I assumed at least the latest version of the software. This morning the SOC was around 65%, but I noticed it seemed as though there was feed being sent to the grid, which didn't make sense to me. I've been monitoring during the day and all seems fine, and will keep an eye on it for the next few days to tweak it where required.
  2. Thanks. Pretty sure I do, I'll be playing around with those timers until I get it where it needs to be, much appreciated. Thanks, I will try this schedule. Is my assumption of the following configuration correct, that it will use prioritize battery between between 22:30 and 09:00 I will consume from battery to a level SOC of 40%. At 09:00 it will recharge the battery using solar if available, else grid?
  3. Sorry, of course. It's a Shoto SDA10-48100 (5.12kWh) 100Ah/48V.
  4. Hi community, I'm hoping someone can help me figure out the scheduling and config I need on my SS inverter. I'm hoping to achieve the following: During sunshine use the solar panels to cater for usage and charge the battery. During dark hours use the battery to around 30%-35% charge before switching over to grid. The battery must only be charged from the panels and not the grid. The whole idea is to reduce the time I spend drawing from the grid. Alternatively, saying 09:00 to 16:00 Solar only, 16:00 to 22:00 battery only, 22:00 to 09:00 grid only (without charging the battery). The solution was initially built to merely cover me for load shedding I'm generating quite a bit of excess during the day which will easily charge my batteries fully during the sunny times, I'm hoping to make use of this instead of losing out.
  5. Hi community, I've read that typical and acceptable DoD for a Lithium battery is around 80%. I'm considering changing my configuration to a DoD of around 65%-70% of my 5kWh battery to optimize the time I spend drawing from the grid. Any gotchas I need to be aware of?
  6. At the risk of reviving this thread (again), I was browsing around specifically for information on this. got some clarity, thanks. I have one of those rotary meters, and when tested spins happily the other direction. All the concerns listed above, i.e. making sure you don't go "back in time", so to speak, are there any technical considerations I need to keep in mind? Worse yet, any legal ramifications? I am using a SynSynk inverter and generate about 3kw excess per day after the battery is charged with nowhere to go. Have the same in mind as @Sparkles to try and be a little bit more efficient with my setup. Alternative, I suppose will be to configure it to first run off of some battery before switching to grid to reduce my consumption from there? TIA
  7. I think it might actually be a plastic one... I'll check it out and keep it in mind. Thanks.
  8. Can anyone recommend a quiet-ish circulation pump to use in my water heating configuration? Currently I have a GeyserWise setup which works well, but after all this time having it, I'm still slightly irritated by on and off humming of the circulation pump. Seeing as we're moving soon and I have to redo the setup in my new place, I figured I might as well put a bit of thought into the components this time. I realize this component is inherently "noisy", but surely there must be some that are more equal than others? Thought, recommendations?
  9. Hi, I bought a new place and moving soon. The new house has three collectors on the roof that was used to heat the swimming pool. This has since been filled up, but the collectors/panels remain, not sure what other components, if any. Would it be possible to use these panels (or one of them) to heat my geyser after adding the required bits and bobs? In my current house I have a GeyserWize setup with a single panel and a 12v circulation pump, and it works extremely well (150l geyser converted). The plan was always to do the same in the new place, and if I can get away without having to buy absolutely everything, that's a bonus. TIA
  10. Another new member out of Pretoria... Between moving into a new house soon, and the current state of affairs as far as load shedding...err, I'm sorry "Rolling Blackouts" are concerned, now seems like a good time to kick my alternative energy plans into higher gear. Looking forward to learning, and hopefully contribute to the forum.
