  3. I have been reading the forum for a few days and started to get myself slightly more familiar with the terminology of the power systems and a few calculations. Although I am far off still. I wanted to try and understand as much as possible to figure out a system for myself, but it feels like I am not moving forward. I am looking for a system that can handle lets say a peak currently of 1000 watts and have 4 hours backup and can be recharged with solar. However I also want to future proof a bit and maybe look at a bigger inverter than needed to start, ie something like the 4/5 kW models. Not sure how sound my thinking is. Then only start with batteries that will work for now and then with a view of replacing the batteries later to fit the inverter and add pv panels as required. My budget is around R50k, but I can up a bit if it makes sense to do so. Any ideas?
