Earth Leakage Trip on Load Shedding Restore
Disclaimer: I don't know anything about electricity I had a situation where I got such a trip in the past and in the end a new switch did the trick. It was as if the old one was very sensitive to trip. Just throwing it in there fwiw.

Sunsynk 8kw inverter: what is the max power that it can take per MPPT?
I am still learning myself. My system (14 x 545W panels) peak at 9kW pv production which is a limit set by the installer. Does that mean that it can't convert it directly to AC in the sense that whilst charging the battery some of it goes to the battery and some (less than 8kW) goes to direct use via AC conversion. Therefor if the battery were full and I have a load of 9kW, then the PV will only deliver 8kW with grid backup for the balance?

Thanks. Yes, I agree on a day to day basis it can change depending on usage, etc. Hence why I rather look at monthly numbers which would not be influenced in the same way as it evens out over the period. So it could then be a combination of normal losses and possibly Sunsynk inaccuracies.

I noticed the following on my 15 kWh battery (based on Solar Assistant numbers). Jan Charged - 431.3 kWh Discharged - 348.2 kWh Feb Charged - 335.3 kWh Discharged - 267.5 kWh If this is losses due to inefficiency, it is equal to 20% loss on a lifepo4 battery. Is this normal? Could the SA numbers be incorrect?

Sunsynk 8kVA - Geyser on AUX or "home load"?
Do you only have a 2kW element in your one geyser and a 3kW in the other? My base load during the day is around 2.2kW then there is washing, etc inbetween too. My geyser has a 4kW element, so I need to plan when I can switch on the geyser as I quickly run out of peak pv and I try not to use battery during the day. I have started looking at automation through HA, but the learning curve is quite heavy and I don't have the time to invest for now. Interested to see the feedback on the HA integration for future use.

Sunsynk 8kVA - Geyser on AUX or "home load"?
The clever guys will probably respond, but I can confirm how it works on my installation. Under Work Mode, the box is ticked for "Limit to load only". If I see there is excess power, then I untick that box and switch on the geyser which then runs on the solar. Once it is hot and automatically switches off, I then tick the box again to prevent it running from the battery later on. It is manual for now, but it works. I would also like to get to a point where it can be automated like some guys do.

On the Sunsynk, if the grid is available and the load is higher than the inverter rating, it will passthrough the balance above the inverter rating, therefor still supply what it can at that point. If the grid is unavailable, it will trip

Really understanding the difference between 5kw and 8kw system for yourself
Adding on to what Greenfields said. If you are running a load over the inverter rating, it will take from pv first, then battery if necessary to get to the 5kW/8kW and thereafter the grid and blend all together without you even noticing. Here is a graph that show how it worked on mine:

SolarAssistant Reverse Proxy Offline?
It happens to me now and again, especially if I played with the network. But it usually comes on eventually. No data is lost in the process. I have restarted the pi too to try and assist the reconnection.

Solar Assistant not displaying graphs on mobile device
What I saw now in the end is that the page I used for Safari which was a normal webpage "added to the homescreen" which then appears if it is an app. This has in some way gotten the issue. After doing the Chrome thing, I deleted that homescreen web page. I then went into Safari again to check if I do it directly in Safari what happens and it came out perfectly. I then added it again to the homescreen like before and now it displays flawless again from Safari too. Thanks all for the suggestions!

Thanks. Mine was actually on, but even with it off it is the same. I also tried the IoT SSID for what its worth, with no result.

I have used my phone (iPhone) for Solar Assistant since getting SA. All of a sudden this week I got an error as per screenshot below: Has anyone experienced this or has an idea how to fix it? The same appears on the Graphs tab.

I thought of logging in to the battery this morning just to see what I can see. I noticed it shows no of cycles as 72 over the 39 days in operation. This equates to 1.85 cycles per day. If I take the total discharge and divide it by the days as displayed in SA, then I get an average of 11.49kWh per day which is then within what I think the 80% DoD is. Is this normal or should I be playing with my settings to reduce it to roughly 1 cycle per day as per the battery BMS? The other thing I noticed is that if I switch on the pool pump, amplifier, etc then there is a dip in the lights, is this normal going through an inverter?

Yes, it includes 3 fridge/freezer combos and 1 normal freezer, networking equipment (ONT, 2 x NAS, 4 x routers), 7 lights, alarm. We "sleep" all pc's during the night. I think that is a huge benefit for the high load we experience early evening, although the geyser is not on the battery, the cooking is. But yes, I am happy so far in terms of the potential saving vs the cost with the benefit of no loadshedding

The big thing is that the 4 hour slots interfere with my standard settings depending on what time it is as I cater in my timing to run off grid when reaching the % SOC, but if it is 4 hours it might run lower, especially the LS slots like 2h00 - 6h00 or something in that region. Our "idle" usage vary between 600W and 750W. Will see how I can change it to a point where I don't have to think about loadshedding. It might involve using much less battery early evening and then just maybe not use the full 70/75% every night dependent on LS

Oh yes, forgot about that! On that topic, with stage 5 and higher, it does take some management with the 4 hour loadshedding after hours to maximize battery usage whilst not running out of power.

I thought I will add some thoughts after roughly a month of being online. In my case I am happy that I went with the 8kW inverter as well as the bigger battery 15/12. Although the battery can't get us through the night "off-grid", it is getting close enough. And it is within the levels that I require on my own calculations as to what Eskom usage saving I would like to get from the system. I am yet to change over to gas cooking which is my next step and then a possible solution for the electric geyser in the future after that. Our daily usage for 2022 was average 68kWh per day, based on my calculations I wanted to get to 30kWh per day and with my last CoJ bill and some calculations it seems I am there. This will however be confirmed during the next few months. The one thing that I saw is that on the cloudy days the 7.6kW array produces 8.4kW roughly and peaks now and again at the limit set in the inverter of 9kW. During these extremely hot days we experiencing during the last week or so, it peaks at 6.8kW which I then take as the heat soaking that I read about. I generally get in the lower 40kWh production per day on fair days and have produced over 50kWh on a few days

Advice needed - System / installer
I looked into solar some time back, but in the end could not afford it. I am now in a position to install a system and are looking at getting a system, but not sure what would be the best way to go. My aim is to start with a 8 - 10kWh system with panels. I want to be loadshedding proof as well as save on my Eskom bill. Inverter options: Sunsynk 8kWh - +- R40k or Victron MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 230V GX Sine Wave Charger Inverter + Victron MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 230V Sine Wave Charger Inverter (I understand I only need one with the GX function - +-R60k The thinking above is whether it is worth it for the additional outlay on the VE equipment in the longer term or do I stick with the Sunsynk and add another inverter in future Batteries: With the Sunsynk, is it a good move to go with their own batteries or is there significant better options? I see Hubble and BSL coming up quite a bit in discussions Installer: Any recommended installers for the Roodepoort area? Side point. What is the best current options to save energy usage with an electric geyser? Does a heat pump make sense to just add. I am just worried about mounting options as I am not sure how far away from the actual geyser is too far and there isn't a wall close enough that can be used.
